BLOOMQUIST WINS IN HIS DRIVE FOR FIVE, FRANCIS NEW POINT LEADER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

UNION, KY - For the defending and four-time United Dirt Track Racing
Association Pro DirtCar Series Champion Scott Bloomquist, "The Drive For
Five" is alive. The Mooresburg, TN driver won the Ironman 100 Saturday
night at Florence Speedway for his ninth win of the season, and the 86th
of
his UDTRA career, driving the Miller Brothers Coal Warrior/Custom Mustang.

Bloomquist, who is third in points, also moved to within 123 points of
the
new UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series point leader Steve Francis of Ashland, KY,
who
finished fourth in the Valvoline/Mopar Performance Rocket/Stanton Intrepid.

Rick Eckert of York, PA, who lead Francis by 38 points going into the race,
finished 16th in the Raye Vest Rocket/Cornett Mustang. Eckert had led the
UDTRA point standings since February.

Bloomquist led all 100 laps for the $20,000 victory, but Bob Pierce of
Oakwood, IL made things interesting at the end of the race in his Murphy
Trucking Rayburn/Pro Power Monte Carlo. Pierce took over the second spot
from Darrell Lanigan of Union, KY on lap 84, and three laps later was
pressuring Bloomquist for the lead.

Pierce could get a good run on Bloomquist running the low side entering
the
corners, but his car would push up the banking from the middle of the turn,
as Bloomquist could pull Pierce five car-lengths off the turns and down
the
straightaways.

With five laps to go, Pierce moved his line to the high side, but Bloomquist
was dug in on the bottom groove of the -mile clay oval, and took the win,
while Pierce had to settle for second. The finish was the fifth top five
finish in eight UDTRA Pro Dirt Car Series starts for Pierce this season.

Lanigan took the third spot in the Lanigan Motorsports Rocket/Cornett
Mustang, followed by Francis, who made a late race charge to claim the
fourth spot. The 1996 UDTRA Champion Freddy Smith of Knoxville, TN was
fifth in the Christenberry Trucking and Farms GRT/Custom Monte Carlo.

Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC finished sixth in the English Mountain Spring
Water/Easy Care GRT/Cornett Mustang. The 1999 UDTRA Champion Dale McDowell
of Rossville, GA had to take a provisional 23rd starting spot, and finished
seventh in the Larry Shaw Race Cars Rocket/Hatfield Grand Prix to earn the
JE Pistons Hard Charger of the Race Award.

Rick Aukland of Zanesville, OH took the eighth spot in the Rocket Chassis
Rocket/Draime Monte Carlo, and ninth was polesitter Mike Jewell of
Scottsburg, IN in the Southern Indiana Rock Drilling Mastersbilt/Cornett
Grand Prix. Dan Schlieper of Pewaukee, WI rounded out the top ten in the
Performance Roofing Systems Rayburn/Pro Power Monte Carlo.

Bloomquist took the lead from his outside front row starting spot at the
start of the race followed by Jewell, Lanigan, John Gill of Mitchell, IN
in
the Elrod Grain Service Rocket/Race Tech Monte Carlo, and fast qualifier
Jerry Rice of Verona, KY in the Brooks Electric Rocket/Draime Monte Carlo.

On the third lap, Smith made the first bold move of the race, sliding under
Rice and Gill to take over the fourth spot. Francis charged up from his
tenth starting spot to battle Gill for the fifth spot by lap 5, and Lanigan
passed Jewell for the second spot on lap six.

Bloomquist was beginning the lapping process by lap 12, as Eckert moved
up
to the 13th spot from his 18th starting position in an effort to hang on
to
the point lead. Eckert's charge was short lived, as he fell back to 15th
by
lap 20. Francis moved up to pass Smith for the fourth spot on lap 25, which
technically gave him the point lead at that stage of the race.

Francis then moved up to challenge Jewell for the third spot on lap 28,
as
the lap 30 mark saw Pierce make his presence known when he moved up to
challenge Smith for the fifth spot. After a hard-fought side-by-side
battle, Pierce passed Smith for fifth on lap 35, and then closed in to
battle Francis for fourth on lap 36.

On lap 38, Jewell, Francis and Pierce waged a three-car battle for the third
spot in heavy lapped traffic, a battle Smith joined on lap 39. The first
of
two caution flags came out on lap 40 when John Holt of Independence, KY
stalled the Brown's Transmission Rocket/Gaerte Grand Prix in turn four.

Going back to the last completed lap before the caution found Bloomquist
leading for the restart followed by Lanigan, Pierce, Jewell, Smith and
Francis. Eckert had dropped back to 16th spot, but regained the point lead
at that stage in the race by three points over Francis.

Lanigan tried an inside move on Bloomquist to challenge for the lead on
the
restart, but Bloomquist held is ground around the bottom of the track.
Once
Bloomquist got his tires up to temperature, he began to pull away from
Lanigan by lap 45. Pierce held his own in third while Jewell and Smith
raced side-by-side for the fourth spot.

The final caution light of the race flashed on lap 53 when Wendell Wallace
of Batesville, AR stalled his JFR Graphics/Monday Motorsports GRT/Russell
Baker Grand Prix in turn one. Pierce picked up his pace after the restart
and began to challenge Lanigan for the second spot on lap 55. On lap 57
Pierce tucked in behind Lanigan, while Bloomquist pulled out to a half
straightaway lead.

McDowell moved into the top ten on lap 60 behind Schlieper, who moved up
to
ninth. On lap 63, Francis passed Jewell for the fifth spot, and took over
the point lead from Eckert by two points. Cook moved up to challenge a
fading Jewell for the sixth spot on lap 65.

The McDowell charge continued on lap 72 when he passed Schlieper for the
ninth spot, and then passed Skip Arp of Georgetown, TN in the Curtis
Equipment GRT/Cornett Mustang for the
eighth position on lap 75.

Bloomquist encountered heavy lapped traffic on lap 80, as Lanigan and
Pierce closed in. Pierce got under Lanigan for second on lap 84, and then
reeled in Bloomquist to battle for the lead by lap 87. McDowell got around
Jewell for the seventh spot on lap 90, and Francis passed Smith for the
fourth spot in the last five laps of the race.

The four Borla Performance 12-lap Heat Races that were run on July 27 were
won by Jewell, Bloomquist, Lanigan, and Gill. Bloomquist picked up the
JE
Pistons $100 Bonus Award with his second heat win, which brought his winning
total to $11,050, and took his season-leading earnings total to $221,600.

Randy Korte of Highland, IL drove his Mid-Continental Fuel Larry Shaw/Pro
Power Monte to victory in the Renegade Transporters 1st 12-lap Consolation
Race. Eckert picked up the win in the Polaris ATVs 2nd 12-lap Consolation
Race.

The Bloomquist-Pierce one-two finish in the Ironman 100 also served as
a
preview of the next race on the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series schedule, as the
next event will be the 11th Annual $15,000-to-win North-South 100 at
Florence Speedway on August 25. Bloomquist is the defending North-South
100
champion, and Pierce won the North-South 100 in 1999.
