REPEAT WINNERS AND FIRST TIME WINNERS VISIT VICTORY LANE LAST NIGHT AT
NEBRASKA RACEWAY PARK

August 6, 2001 - Greenwood, Neb. - Fans and drivers braved the 100 degree
heat to enjoy the racing action on Coca-Cola night at Nebraska Raceway Park.
Pole-sitter John Hampel broke out to a quick start and pulled away to a
commanding lead, nearly a full straightaway, in the Super Late Model
A-feature Sunday night. However, Hampel's lead vanished in an instant when
the a caution flag came out with 15 laps remaining in the 25-lap race.

Joe Kosiski had already moved up to fourth spot from his twelfth starting
position, and he capitalized on the restart. The track's points leader,
looked like he was shot out of a cannon on the restart. After a little
Kosiski drove past his brother Steve Kosiski and brother-in-law Jason
Hobscheidt just two laps. He then set his sites on Hampel, eventually
working his way past with seven laps to go en route to his fourth victory of
the year at NRP.

"The restart helped me a whole bunch - that helped us get up close to John,"
Kosiski said. "I passed two cars right away after the restart and that gave
me a chance to work on John for a while."

Gary Leapley earned his first victory at NRP with a convincing win in the
Walker Uniform Rental Grand National A-feature. Leapley, who started on the
outside of the first row, jumped out to early lead and never surrendered the
position in the 20-lap race. Leapley, who took a very smooth line around
the middle of the track, survived two restarts in the final seven laps.

Scott Carlson continued his phenomenal run in the O-Reilly Auto Parts
Pro-Ams, claiming his seventh victory of the season. Carlson charged to the
lead by lap 6 in the 18-lap race and held on for victory despite two
cautions in the final five laps, both involving points leader Scott
Anderson.

Eric Hanson won the Jasper Engines and Transmissions Hobby Stock A-feature
despite finishing second in the race. Apparent race winner, Tom Myers, was
disqualified after race inspection for a rules infraction.

The Hobby Stocks also ran the quarter-final semi-final races in the 76
Racing Gas King of the Hill Series. The King of the Hill matches the top
eight in points standings in two-lap head to head races. Travis Alley and
Joe Feyen advanced to the finals which will run on Labor Day Weekend.

Sunday, August 12 Shopko presents the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series and Kids
Bike Races. Four exciting racing divisions, plus kids will take the track
during intermission with the winner of each age division receiving a new
bike. Kids 12 and under will be admitted FREE. Gates open at 4:30 p.m.
with racing scheduled for 6 p.m.
