Blair scores at Raceway 7

Conneaut, OH (August 3) - Rob Blair from Titusville, PA was the winner of the 25-lap Maloney Tool and Mold Super Late Model feature event on Friday night at Raceway 7. Leading the entire distance, Blair notched his second feature victory of the season. Roberts' Trucking was the sponsor of the main event for the Jay's Auto Wrecking Steel Block Late Models, with Jay Watson continuing his hot streak. The Conneaut, Ohio driver drove to his fifth consecutive feature win, and seventh of the season. Winning his second feature of the season and second straight in the MHC Inc. E-Mods was Ron Roncaglione from Linesville, PA. Jim McFadden from Painesville, OH was the winner in the Fame Manufacturing Street Stocks for the second time this season.

Greg Fenno and Rob Blair led the 25-lap feature for the Maloney Tool and Mold Super Late Models on the starting grid, with Blair moving to the lead at the start. After an early yellow on lap 1, Blair led the way with **** Barton moving to second spot. Barton closed on Blair as the leaders approached race traffic, as another yellow appeared on lap 10. Blair again pulled away on the restart, with Barton closing again before another yellow showed on lap 18. On this restart, Ryan Markham joined the battle as he moved to second. Additional restarts on laps 20 and 23 kept the battle tight between the top three. On the final two-lap dash to the flag, Blair would go on to score his second feature victory of the season. Barton would end up second, but still retains a comfortable lead in the point standings. Markham had a good run for third. From starting position 14, Dan Armbruster charged to finish fourth. Netting his best finish of the season was Bill Cunningham, as he raced home fifth. Tony Lombardi was sixth, as Chris Hackett, Mickey Wright, Rick Briggs, and Rich Gardner completing the top ten. Brent Rhebergen, Cunningham, and Fenno were the heat race winners.

The Roberts' Trucking sponsored 20-lap feature for the Jay's Auto Wrecking Steel Block Late Models, with Mike Stoneman and Bryan Emory on the front row. Emory led at the start, before sixth starting Jay Watson grabbed the lead on lap 2. Through the mid stages of the race, point leader Watson continued to pull away from the field, leaving the battle for second between Emory, Dave Hess, Jr., and Rob Blair. Hess and Blair had moved past Emory on lap 16, and a lap 17 caution flag would set up a three-lap dash to the finish. Watson would continue to show the way for the remaining distance to continue his hot streak, winning his fifth straight feature and seventh of the season. Blair would come home second, as the heat race winners finished first and second. Hess was third, with Dwayne Pond and Doug Eck rounding out the top five.

J.B. Dandy and Bill Taylor led the 20-lap MHC Inc. E-Mod feature to the green flag, and Taylor grabbed the lead at the start. Advancing very quickly towards the front was eighth starting Ron Roncaglione, and he would move past Taylor to gain command on lap 3. Kari Petrosky had moved to second on lap 6, before a ten-car tangle required the red flag on lap 7. All but one car involved the tangle would be able to continue, but the car eliminated was the point leader entering the night, Todd Roncaglione. As this would be the final restart of the event, Ron Roncaglione would pull away from the field over the closing laps to win his second feature of the season, and second straight. It would also gain him enough points in the standings to end the night tied with his younger brother Todd for the division point lead. Kevin Decker started 18th on the grid, and charged through the pack to finish second. Bill Watson finished third and sits just 15 points behind the leaders in a very tight point race. Petrosky was fourth, and Ron Loney was fifth. Heat race winners were Taylor, Hugo Litwiler, and Chuck List, and Jim Frontz was the winner of the Last Chance Race.

Jim McFadden raced to victory in the 15-lap Fame Manufacturing Street Stock feature. Lynn Preston and Justin Kreider had led the field to green, and Kreider had led at the start. Kreider led the first two laps, before fourth starting McFadden made his way past on lap 3. Bruce Burlingame had moved to second, before Brian Douglas took the spot on lap 9. A late yellow on lap 12 tightened up the field one final time, giving the competition a last shot at leader McFadden. But the battle in the closing laps was for second between Douglas and Mike Hochschild. McFadden would race home the winner for the second time this season. Point leader Hochschild completed the late pass to take second. Douglas was third ahead of 21st starting Chuck Sullivan, and Rich Howell. Heat winners were Howell, John Hobbs, Sr., and Pat Gorton.
