WALLACE, McDOWELL, BABB AND BLOOMQUIST TAKE USA NATIONALS HEAT RACE WINS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

NEW RICHMOND, WI - Wendell Wallace of Batesville, AR is ready to play "Who
Wants To Be A Millionaire" on Saturday night at Cedar Lake Speedway for
the
United
Dirt Track Racing Association Pro DirtCar Series $40,000-to-win USA
Nationals 100.

Wallace earned the pole position in Friday night action by driving the JFR
Graphics/Monday Motorsports GRT/Russell Baker Grand Prix to victory in the
first 20-lap Borla Performance Heat Race. Wallace is just $33,175 away
from
becoming the second Millionaire in UDTRA career earnings.

A victory Saturday night for Wallace would put him over the top and he would
join the defending and four-time UDTRA Champion Scott Bloomquist of
Mooresburg, TN in the UDTRA Millionaires Club.

The three other heat race wins went to 1999 UDTRA Champion Dale McDowell
of
Rossville, GA, Shannon Babb of Decatur, IL, and Bloomquist.

Wallace used the high line to defeat fast qualifier Steve Francis of
Ashland, KY and earn the pole position for the USA Nationals. Francis
started off the evening by out-qualifying the 41 entrants with a time around
the 3/8-mile clay oval in 14.293 seconds for an average speed of 94.452
miles per hour in the Valvoline/Mopar Performance Rocket/Stanton Intrepid.

Francis will start the USA Nationals from the fifth spot. Lance Mathees
of
Winona, MN in the Fegers Racing Equipment Fegers/Custom Monte Carlo and
former USA Nationals Champion Rick Aukland of Zanesville, OH in the Rocket
Chassis Rocket/Draime Monte Carlo finished third and fourth respectively.

McDowell will start on the outside of row one for the USA Nationals after
winning the second heat race and the Scott Performance Wire $50 Bonus Award
in the Larry Shaw Race Cars Larry Shaw/Hatfield Grand Prix. McDowell dodged
a bullet on the first lap of the heat when he cut down a tire to bring out
a
caution.

Since a lap was not completed, McDowell was able to change the tire under
ca
ution and regain his original starting spot for the restart. Not so
fortunate was hometown favorite Jimmy Mars of Elk Mound, WI.

Mars had a major mechanical problem under the hood of his Parker Store
Mastersbilt/Pro Power Monte Carlo while leading the heat, which will force
him to start in the back of the Renegade Transporters 1st 20-lap Consolation
Race on Saturday.

UDTRA point leader Rick Eckert of York, PA finished second in the second
heat, and will start his Raye Vest/Cameron Car Corner Rocket/Cornett Mustang
on the outside of the third row for the USA Nationals.

The 1997 UDTRA Champion Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR was third in the
Petroff Towing/J&J Steel Rayburn/Clements Grand Prix, and Bill Frye of
Greenbrier, AR was fourth in the UniFirst Uniforms GRT/Cornett Mustang.

Babb won the third heat with a bold outside move, coming from the fourth
starting spot to take the lead coming off the second turn of the first lap
in the Car City Co./Petroff Towing Rayburn/Dickens Monte Carlo. Babb will
start the USA Nationals from the inside of row two.

Early in the third heat race, a turn four tangle among three drivers
battling for second place damaged the cars of Johnny Johnson of West
Burlington, IA, Dennis Erb of Carpentersville, IL, and Jerry Redetzke of
Eau
Claire, WI. All three drivers will have to run the Polaris ATVs 2nd 20-lap
Consolation Race on Saturday night.

The other three third heat transferees to the USA Nationals were
second-place finisher Marshall Green of Dalton, GA in the Barto Enterprises
Rocket/Hatfield Monte Carlo, third-place finisher Darren Miller of Chadwick,
IL in the Sterling NAPA Mastersbilt/Pro Power Monte Carlo, and John Kaanta
of Elk Mound, WI in the LPI Lift Systems Mastersbilt/Weisman Monte Carlo.

Bloomquist came from the fourth starting hole in his Miller Brothers Coal
Warrior/Mustang to win the fourth heat race and JE Pistons $100 Bonus Award.
The 1999 USA Nationals Champion earned the outside row two starting spot
for
the USA Nationals. Bloomquist battled for the lead early in the race with
the 1996 UDTRA Champion Freddy Smith of Knoxville, TN.

Smith had to settle for second in the Christenberry Trucking and Farms
GRT/Custom Monte Carlo, and Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC finished third in
the
English Mountain Spring Water/Easy Care GRT/Cornett Mustang. Randy Korte
of
Highland, IL rounded out the "Sweet 16" with a fourth place finish in the
Mid-Continental Fuel Larry Shaw/Pro Power Monte Carlo.

Other favorites having to run one of two consolation races on Saturday night
are Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA, Dan Schlieper of Pewaukee, WI, Joe
Izzo of Chicago, IL, and Steve Boley of West Liberty, IA.

The Saturday activities will begin at 3 p.m. with the Dirt Racing Outreach
Bible Study in the pit area concession. Bill Schlieper of Pro Power Racing
Engines will be the guest speaker. The UDTRA Drivers Autograph Session
will
take place on Souvenir Row behind the front grandstands from 4:30 p.m. to
5:30 p.m.

The UDTRA consolation race cars will hot lap at 6:30 p.m., followed by the
Renegade Transporters and Polaris ATVs 20-lap Consolation Races. The top
three finishers from each consy will transfer to the USA Nationals in the
17th through 22nd starting spots. UDTRA Provisionals will fill in starting
positions 23 and 24.

The 16 drivers that earned starting spot in Friday night's heat races will
hot lap after the consolation races, and then it's the $40,000-to-win USA
Nationals finale which will be 100 laps in length. For ticket and race
