Ward Wins First Time in a Late Model

Timothy Moran and Billy Mitchell took the heat wins for pure stock.
Darrell Guy took the lead on the start followed closely by Tim Moran. First
yellow flew when Stacie Buecker spun. On the restart Darrell continued
leading followed by Moran. Stacie Buecker got into the back of Danny Prather
and pushed him around leaving him sitting in the mud on the inside edge of
the track. Prather got his spot back while Beucker earned a trip go the rear.
Coming for the white flag Moran did a 360 on the front straightaway. Guy took
the win, Mark Hardwick scored second, Darren Dean moved into third, Danny
Prather fourth and Belinda Paetz fifth.
Jarrett Durrett and Waylon Morris took the heat wins for UMP. Durrett,
Morris and Chad Williams ran nose to tail for the top three positions the
entire race. Dale Aucoin moved into third and Scott Holt worked his way to
fifth then had his hands full with Dougie Murphy behind him trying to get
fifth from Holt. But Holt held him off and took fifth.
Bobby Tate and Kerry Vicknair shared the heat wins for street stock.
Tate and Randy Jamison ran wheel to wheel for a whole lap till Jamison got
the lead. Followed by Tate. Behind Tate was a side by side by side battle
between Vicknair and Scooter Paetz. Bobby Tate started to spin and tagged
Paetz sending him into the infield. Second place Vicknair got down low in
never never land but he recovered.On the back straightaway Tommy Cannon and
Paetz slipped by Tate. Gary Talbert got under Tate made contact and Tate
wound up in the front wall. Jamison went on to get his first win of the
season followed by Vicknair, Cannon, Paetz and Talbert.
Scotty Covington and Larry Clayton took heat wins for Mini Stock.
Covington led the entire caution free feature. Larry Clayton ran second till
the end when Joey King worked his way by for second. Clayton took third,
Wesley LaFleur fourth and Donna Everette fifth.
Jerry Bevis and James Ward took the heat wins for late models. Ward and
Bevis the pole sitter drag raced down the front straightaway to turn one
where Ward took the lead and led every lap and took the checkered. Bevis ran
second while behind him Randy Blanchard and Eric Courville ran wheel to wheel
for third. Blanchard moved to third. David Ashley moved into fifth. Courville
hit the front wall tearing the whole front off his car. Four cars tangled in
four to bring out the yellow. Kevin Watts, David Ashley, Chris Wall and Randy
Blanchard. Ashley and Blanchard retired to the pits. Sam Patrick moved into
second and started closing the gap between him and Ward, but ran out of time.
Ward took the win Patrick second, Chris Wall third, Jerry Bevis fourth and
rounding out the top five was Kennith Crowe. Ricky Kirkland and Davin Bates
took go Kart heat wins. Kirkland also took feature win.
