Pauch Marches To $3,000 New Egypt Victory

New Egypt, NJ (June 30) - Defending Modified champ Billy Pauch of
Frenchtown, NJ, showed everyone who's boss at New Egypt Speedway, marching
from 18th straight to victory lane in Saturday night's Big Bang 40,
sponsored by Pepsi-Cola. The $3,000 score was Pauch's fifth win of the
season, his first since May 26.

"It was a seat-of-the-pants feel," Pauch said of his decision to commit to
the top groove late in the going. "I know Kenny was coming and he's usually
faster on the bottom, so I kept it up there and tried to make it happen."

The first half of the 40-lap Modified feature went non-stop and polesitter
Donnie Radd led all 20 laps while Pauch advanced spot by spot to the front.
When the yellow waved on lap 20, Pauch was third, pressing for second. The
restart put him there, and he dropped Radd two tours later. It looked to be
all Pauch from that point on, but arch rival Kenny Brightbill definitely had
other ideas. Brightbill got close enough to breathe on Pauch's bumper with
seven to go, but it was his best shot. At the finish it was Pauch by almost
a full straight over Brightbill, Rocco Infante, Tim Tanner Jr. and Brian
Weaver. The win put Pauch back on top of New Egypt's lucrative point chase.

Division points leader Matt Papiez of Belle Mead, NJ, led the last half to
claim his second of the year in the 20-lap Sportsman main. A determined
Scott Singley came from 17th to claim second. Dave Hoffman, Chuck Flesch and
Brian Godown followed Papiez and Singley to the flag.

In a stellar Street Stock race that had the fans on their feet, defending
division champ Billy Bauer of Flemington, NJ, held off a strong Rich Page II
on the final lap to claim his third of the year after weeks of misfortune.
The Page brothers, Rich and Mario, followed Bauer to the podium. Bill Gerber
and Al Cheney III completed the top five. Rich Page II notched the $500
checker in Cream Ridge Golf Club's four-lap Street Stock Cash Dash.

The Herman's Trucking Lightning Lap Awards for fastest lap in a feature
event were won by Pauch (Mods, 18.830), Papiez (Sportsman, 19.970) and Carol
Whitehouse (Street Stock, 21.322).

Pepsi flooded the grandstands with giveaways on this pre-holiday night, and
brought along Jeff Gordon's Winston Cup car for fan photo ops. A delayed
Dad's Appreciation celebration saw Cream Ridge Golf Club present two color
TVs, greens fees and carts, and a bunch of other great prizes to lucky Dads.
When no driver could sink a putt and cash in during Cream Ridge Golf Club's
Hole-In-One Putting Challenge, Club owner Bill Miscoski donated $200 to the
Going Fast for Gary Fund, benefiting three-year-old Gary Bozowski who is
battling leukemia, and awarded an extra $100 to the third-place finisher in
each feature event.

The evening was capped off by a spectacular fireworks display, in honor of
Independence Day.

Next week, Mid-State Communications presents Grand Slam Little League Night

Stocks in action, and a batting bonus for the driver who can hit a pitch out
of the park. All Little Leaguers in uniform, ages 7-12, will be admitted
free. Racing starts at 6:30 p.m., with gates opening at 4 p.m. Adult
admission is $13, children 7-12 are $4, and kids 6 and under are free. For
