WALL STADIUM WET AFTER FOUR HEAT RACES --
"ON-TRACK PARTY" SET FOR 6 P.M. THIS SATURDAY
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Wall Stadium officials did everything possible to get
the scheduled Saturday night (June 23) racing card in the record books under
threatening skies, but after just four qualifying races the predicted rains
began to fall forcing the cancellation of all events. In fact, it was the
fourth event to suffer from wet weather in five weeks. Rain checks from
Saturday night will be honored for the remainder of the season.
This Saturday evening (June 30) will be special for a couple of reasons at
Wall Stadium. First off, the speedway will present six racing divisions in
high speed action. Secondly, the night marks the first "On-Track Party" of
the season at the Shore Speedway. The event is being presented by popular
demand after being rained out twice before this season.
At 6:00 p.m., before action begins, fans of the cars and drivers who race
in the Coors Light/NAPA Auto Parts Racing Series at Wall Stadium each
Saturday night will have the opportunity to meet all the drivers and view all
the cars up close. In fact, those fans will also have the chance to stroll
the famous high banks for one hour when the speedway presents the first
"On-Track Party" of the 2001 season.
On Saturday, the regular pre-race warm-up sessions will start and end
earlier than usual. Just before 6:00 p.m. every race team in the pit area
will be invited to drive their car down onto the speedway and park them along
the apron of the third mile paved oval. Fans will then be welcome to walk
down onto the track to experience the famous high banking, inspect the
racecars up close, gather autographs from their favorite drivers and have
their pictures taken with the cars and drivers. Everyone will then return to
their seats so that
"Pete & Elda's Bar/Carmen's Pizzeria Night" racing can begin at 7:00 p.m.
On the speedway, action will feature the Neptune Research and Development
Modified stock cars headlining in a 30-lap main event. Defending champ Dave
Michel of Manahawkin leads the field to action, but plenty of competition
will come from current point leader Jimmy Blewett of Howell and a host of
The Pro Stocks, paced by defending champ Rob Williams of Farmingdale,
will battle in a 25-lapper, while the Garage Door Express Street
Stocks, with defending champ Larry Thompson of Parlin at the head of the
field, compete in a 20-lapper. The Monmouth Truck Equipment Truck Series
racers are set for a 20-lapper and the Weiss' Boots and Apparel Legend Cars
will also compete in a 20-lap main event. The Neptune Research Three-Quarter
Midgets are also on this six division card. Gates open at 5:00 p.m.
Located on Rt. 34 just one mile north of Interstate 195 Exit 35B and
Garden State Parkway Exit 98, Wall Stadium is easy to get to from anywhere.
