DRIVERS SHOW NO EFFECTS OF RECENT WRECKS AS THEY DRIVE TO VICTORY AT
NEBRASKA RACEWAY PARK
June 11, 2001 - Greenwood, Neb. - The racing seasons for Mark Wyman and Jody
Krug almost came to a screeching halt early in the season. Each has been
involved in a serious wreck over the past three weeks, and while fortunately
neither driver has been seriously injured, both came away with completely
totaled race machines. But with the help of crew members, encouragement of
fellow drivers and the support of fans, both were in competition Sunday on
Craftsman Tools Night at Nebraska Raceway Park. Neither driver showed
effects of their recent wrecks, in fact they both won in their respective
Wyman, who also drives in Modified competition, was ready to throw in the
towel in Super Late Model competition for the season. "After I wrecked my
car in Denison I decided I was done racing because I couldn't afford to do
it anymore," Wyman said. "I decided to quit, but I had people offering to
help me out. It's one big family down here among all the drivers." In a
borrowed car from competitor and friend Leon Zeitner, Wyman took his car to
the front with 18 laps remaining and never looked back. Scott Koskovich
took home second with Al Zeitner in third, but the night belonged to Wyman.
Krug, who made multiple trips South in the past week to ready his new
machine for competition, appeared just as strong as he did before his wreck,
driving to his third victory of the year at NRP in the Walker Uniform Rental
Grand National division. Crediting the support of his crew and family, Krug
looks forward to continuing an already impressive 2001 season. Krug took
the lead with six laps to go and drove away from second place Brian Kenkel
and third place Chris Roberts.
In other racing competition, Scott Carlson claimed his second victory of the
season in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Pro-Ams leading all 18 laps of the A
feature. Travis Alley made it a perfect three-for-three as he drove to
another victory in the Jasper Engines and Transmissions Hobby Stocks.
