HILLENBURG WAITS OUT RAIN, WINS FIRST AT ELDORA
Andy Hillenburg waited through two rain delays totaling nearly three hours,
and then tracked down race-long leader Johnny Herrera to make a race-winning
pass on the 30th lap to pick up the Pennzoil World of Outlaws A-main at
Eldora Speedway early Sunday morning.
"I've been coming here since 1987...I can't believe I finally won one
here," said Hillenburg in victory lane. "I'm not sure what we'd had done if
it would have gone green to checkered, it really would have taken a toll
(physically) on us. I didn't think I was going to be able to catch up with
him (Herrera). Johnny was running strong out front, but I got a pretty good
run on him down the backstretch and I barley cleared him down here (in 3&4).
Herrera settled for second, with Danny Lasoski third, Donny Schatz fourth,
and Steve Kinser fifth.
