Kelly Angelette lapped all But two cars and Scored the win
May 26,2001 Sue DuRoy Pike County Speedway
Joey Brown jumped in the lead on the start of the Novice B main and
led every lap to the checkered and scored the win followed by Gary Petit,
Larry Disotell, Jody Hughes, and David Petit.
A main started with Austin Butler from the pole blasted into the lead.
But by turn two spun and brought out the yellow. On the restart it was Mark
Hardwick leading the field. Hardwick went on to take the win by several car
lengths over Robert Petit, Stephen Polk, Rusty Williams, and Tudy Jackson.
Austin Butler , Mark Hardwick and Joe Carboni all shared heat wins. In the
second heat Rustin Cain rolled in two end over end.
Mike Roe took the UMP heat win. In the feature Roe led every lap till
turn four when Daniel Boyd slid by for the win Roe finished second infront of
Brent Ainsworth, Lew Lyles and Kerry Spears.
Jimmy Stephens in the Livingston Napa, Aims Automotive, Graphics sign
car won it all heat and feature. On the drop of the green Stephens from the
pole drag raced with Rusty Cooper to turn two where Stephens took over the
lead and held it till the end. Cooper finished second, third place Shawn
Barber went up in a cloud of blue smoke as he crossed the line. Fourth was
Brown, and Kevin Case as he crossed the line in fifth had his hood fly up.
Kerry Vicknair and Scotty Case took the heat wins for street stock.
Scotty Covington blasted into the lead on the start of the feature. Kerry
Vicknair moved into second. Louis Morals the third ran third while behind him
Jamie Hamilton and Matthew Simeon battled for fourth. Simeon got fourth then
took third from Morals. On the final lap Kerry Vicknair finally got the lead.
Kerry worked at Case lap after lap but Case wasn't giving up the lead.
Vicknair finally got it and took the checkered followed by Case, Matthew
Simeon, Louis Morals the third and Jamie Hamilton.
Billy Gordon and Glen Stanga won the heats for Super Stock. Billy Gordon
took the lead on the drop of the green. Tim Thornton ran second till he spun
and brought out the first yellow. Behind Gordon was the show for second.
Robert Morel would get second in the turns and on the straightaways it would
br Joey Humphrey This went on lap after lap. When they crossed the line it
was Morel by a whisker for second. Humphrey took third and Keith Smith fourth.
Michael Herrington, Lane Whittington, Kelly Angelette and Chad Bush all
shared heat wins for the Cajun Sprinters. Mark Roth led every lap of the last
chance race and took the win. On the start of the feature it was Michael
Herrington into the lead on the start followed by Kelly Angelette who took
over the lead. Lane Whittington moved to third. Jody Miller blew an engine on
the back straightaway and as he coasted along he was high in three but
Herrington and Whittington were also running high. They both hit him wheels
went flying and took both Herrington and Whittington out of the race. After
that it was smooth sailing foy Kelly Angelette. Butch David second and Glynn
LaBlanc third threaded the needle in and out of lap traffic. When the
checkered flew for Angelette he had lapped all but second place Butch David
and third place Glynn LaBlanc. Harold Henderson took fourth followed by
Herman Carrier, Charles Graves, Cary Farmer, Ricky Brewer, Chad Bush, and
Cassidy LaJeune.
