ECKERT SOARS TO THIRD UDTRA WIN AT EAGLE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

LINCOLN, NE - After a 50-lap battle to the checkered flag without a
caution, United Dirt Track Racing Association Pro DirtCar Series point
leader Rick Eckert of York, PA held off 1999 UDTRA Champion Dale McDowell
of
Rossville, GA to win the 50-lap McCarthy Heating and Air Conditioning UDTRA
Pro DirtCar Series main event Tuesday night at Eagle Raceway.

The $10,000 victory is the third of the season for Eckert in the Raye Vest
Rocket/Cornett Mustang, and his ninth straight top five finish in UDTRA
Pro
DirtCar competition. During the past seven days in the last three UDTRA
events, Eckert has two wins, one second, and $31,050 in earnings. After
the
first 17 races, Eckert has 13 top five finishes and $79,375 in season
earnings.

"I'm getting to like Tuesday nights," Eckert said referring to his two wins
on the last two Tuesday nights. "I have to give credit to my crew chief
Robbie Allen and Mark Richards of Rocket Chassis. They've been the ones
who
have made all of right decisions, and have really put us on a roll. This
is
the kind of momentum we need heading to Bristol Motor Speedway next week."

Polesitter McDowell led the first lap by a front bumper over the outside
front row starting Eckert. On lap two, Eckert took the lead using the
outside groove, and then held off a strong challenge from McDowell through
lapped traffic.

"The track was real racy and with grooves both up high and down low, we
could pass anywhere we needed through the lapped traffic," Eckert said.
"This is a good race track and a nice facility. I really hope we get to
come back here."

McDowell had to settle for second in his Larry Shaw Race Cars Larry
Shaw/Hatfield Monte Carlo, and Steve Francis of Ashland, KY finished third
in the Valvoline/Mopar Performance Rocket/Stanton Intrepid. Eckert now
holds a 218 point lead over Francis in the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series points
chase.

Wendell Wallace of Batesville, AR moved up to the fourth spot in the point
standings with a fourth place finish in the JFR Graphics/Monday Motorsports
GRT/Russell Baker Grand Prix. Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA was fifth
in
the Seubert Calf Ranches Rocket/Pro Power Grand Prix.

Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC took the sixth spot in the English Mountain
Spring Water GRT/Cornett Mustang. Cook was the fast qualifier among the
29
entrants with a lap around the 1/3-mile high-banked dirt oval in 15.249
seconds for an average speed of 78.694 miles per hour. Cook also moved
up
to the ninth spot in the UDTRA point standings.

The 1996 UDTRA Champion Freddy Smith of Knoxville, TN finished seventh
in
the Christenberry Trucking and Farms GRT/Custom Monte Carlo and earned the
JE Pistons Hard Charger of the Race Award after starting 17th.

The defending and four-time UDTRA Champion Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg,
TN finished eighth in the Miller Brothers Coal Warrior/Custom Mustang, and
Davey Johnson of Greensburg, PA was ninth in the Rocket Chassis
Rocket/Draime Monte Carlo. Steve Boley of West Liberty, IA rounded out
the
top ten in the Ron Alpen Ford Mastersbilt/Cornett Mustang.

While Eckert and McDowell battled up front for the lead, there were several
side-by-side battles for position behind them throughout the field in the
caution-free event. Three-wide racing was the order of the evening as cars
racing door-to-door on the lead lap worked through lapped traffic.

Francis kept pace with the two leaders while running in the third spot,
and
closed in at times through lapped traffic to make it a three car battle
for
the lead. During the first ten laps of the race, Wallace and Boley ran
side-by-side for the fourth spot. Wallace cleared Boley on lap 15, and
behind them, it was Birkhofer in sixth, while Cook and Bloomquist raced
door-to-door for the seventh spot.

Birkhofer moved up to challenge Boley for the fifth spot on lap 18, finally
taking the position on lap 21. At the halfway point, the running order
was
Eckert, McDowell, Francis, Wallace, Birkhofer, Boley, Cook, Bloomquist,
Johnson, and Smith.

The second half of the race saw Smith on the move, and Boley falling back
through the field. Smith moved around Johnson for the ninth spot on lap
27.
Cook passed Boley for the sixth spot and Smith took Bloomquist for eighth
on
lap 39. Smith worked by Boley for seventh on lap 45, while Bloomquist got
by Boley for eighth on lap 48, and Johnson moved by Boley for the ninth
spot
on the last lap.

All 24 starters finished the race, with 13 cars on the lead lap, 10 cars
one lap down, and one car two laps down.

McDowell won the Scott Performance Wire $50 Bonus Award with a win in the
first Borla Performance 12-lap Heat Race, and Eckert picked up the $100
JE
Pistons Bonus Award with a second heat win. Francis won the third heat.

Dan Schlieper of Pewaukee, WI won the 12-lap Renegade Transporters/Polaris
ATVs 12-lap Consolation Race in the Performance Roofing Systems Rayburn/Pro
Power Monte Carlo.

The next event on the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series Tour will be the $200,000
2nd
Annual Battle of Bristol on clay covered .533-mile high-banked Bristol Motor
Speedway in Bristol, TN on May 30-June 2. For more details visit www.udtra.com and www.bristolmotorspeedway.com.
