WALLACE WINS AGAIN IN HURON, SD

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

HURON, SD - Wendell Wallace of Batesville, AR has this thing he really
likes about Huron, SD. He wins there. On Saturday night, Wallace drove
his
JFR Graphics/Monday Motorsports GRT/Russell Baker Grand Prix to his second
straight United Dirt Track Racing Association Pro DirtCar Series win on
the
-mile Dakota State Fairgrounds Speedway.

Wallace stepped to the outside on lap 12, and passed UDTRA point leader
Rick Eckert of York, PA and Dan Schlieper of Pewaukee, WI to take the lead.
Wallace then held off a late race charge from Eckert to win the 100-lap
main
event in Huron for the second straight year.

"We just put the same set up we had on the car last year, and never touched
it all weekend," Wallace said. "I got caught up behind some lapped traffic
late in the race, but I knew Rick was right behind me and he didn't have
any
place to pass as long as I stayed on the bottom of the track. Huron is
a
great track with great fans, and I just might have to buy a house and move
here."

His $20,000 check for first place just might make a nice down payment.
But
Wallace and the rest of the UDTRA travelers will head to Lincoln, NE on
Tuesday night, and then on to Bristol, TN on May 30 through June 2.

"I'm really looking forward to getting back to Bristol Motor Speedway,"
Wallace said. "We race at a lot of tracks, but Bristol is really special
because of its history, and it's really fast."

The victory also moved Wallace into the fifth spot in the UDTRA Pro DirtCar
Series point standings. Wallace is the only driver in UDTRA history to
finish in the top five of the point standings for the past five consecutive
years.

Eckert finished second in the Raye Vest Rocket/Cornett Mustang, three
car-lengths behind Wallace at the checkered flag. It was the 12th top five
finish for Eckert in the first 16 events of the 2001 season for the UDTRA
Pro DirtCar Series. Eckert now holds a 203 point lead in the championship
hunt.

"I was racing with Dan (Schlieper) for the lead on the low side early in
the race, and Wally went flying around the outside of both of us," Eckert
said. "Our car was good, but the track rubbered up late in the race, and
I
only had one shot at Wally when he pushed up. I got under him, but then
I
pushed up too."

The 1996 UDTRA Champion Freddy Smith of Knoxville, TN took the third spot
in the Christenberry Trucking and Farms GRT/Custom Monte Carlo. It was
his
best finish since winning the season opener on February 3, and moved "The
Southern Gentleman" up to ninth in the point standings.

The defending and four-time UDTRA Champion Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg,
TN brought the Miller Brothers Coal Warrior/Custom Mustang home in the
fourth spot. That moved Bloomquist up to third spot in the points chase.

Shannon Babb of Decatur, IL charged from the 14th starting spot to finish
fifth in the Car City Co. Rayburn/Dickens Monte Carlo. Steve Francis of
Ashland, KY finished sixth in the Valvoline/Mopar Performance Rocket/Stanton
Intrepid to remain second in the point standings.

Schlieper ran in the top three for most of the race in the Performance
Roofing Systems Rayburn/Pro Power Monte Carlo, and led the first 11 laps.
He was running third when he cut down a right-rear tire on the last lap
and
finished seventh.

"We had a caution flag late in the race, and I really didn't need that,"
Schlieper said. "I felt the tire going down with about five laps to go,
and
I thought I could hang on to third, but caution flag really did us in."

Jimmy Mars of Elk Mound, WI started his Parker Store Mastersbilt/Pro Power
Monte Carlo in 17th spot and finished eighth to share the JE Pistons Hard
Charger of the Race Award with Babb. Mitch Johnson of Hixon, ND took the
ninth spot in the Northwest Auto Body GRT/Olson Monte Carlo, and Joe Izzo
of
LaSalle, IL was tenth in the Jeff's Engine Masters GRT/Pro Power Monte
Carlo.

At the start of the race, Schlieper grabbed the lead from the outside front
row starting spot followed by Eckert, Wallace, Dale McDowell of Rossville,
GA, and Smith. In the opening laps, Eckert could pull along side Schlieper
to challenge for the lead in turns three and four, but Schlieper had the
advantage through turns one and two.

McDowell moved his Larry Shaw Race Cars Larry Shaw/Hatfield Monte Carlo
around Wallace for the third spot on lap nine. On lap 11, 1997 UDTRA
Champion Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR slowed in turn four to bring out
the
first of four caution flags.

Right as the caution flag came out for Moyer, McDowell tangled in turn two
with the lapped car of Chad Chenoweth of Huron, SD in the Five Star Cellular
Mastersbilt/Hatfield Grand Prix. McDowell's car suffered enough damage
to
put him out for the evening.

On the restart, Eckert continued to battle Schlieper on the inside groove
for the lead, but it was Wallace who stepped to the outside from the third
spot to pass both Eckert and Schlieper to take the lead.

Lance Mathees of Winona, MN brought out the second caution flag when he
stalled his Fegers Racing Equipment Fegers/Custom Monte Carlo in turn one.
After the next restart, Wallace began to pull away from the field while
Schlieper and Eckert continued their side-by-side battle for second.

By lap 20, Wallace had pulled out to half straightaway lead over Schlieper
and Eckert. On lap 21, Eckert passed Schlieper for the second spot, and
then began to chase down Wallace. Eckert caught the leader by lap 24, but
couldn't quite get a good enough run on Wallace in lapped traffic to
challenge for the lead.

Right at the halfway point on lap 50, Ken Brack of Johnstown, CO spun his
Buckeye Welding Supply GRT/Taylor Monte Carlo in turn three to bring out
the
third caution flag. During the caution, drivers showed their concern for
tire wear, as they all headed for the cool loose dirt on the top side of
the
track to cool off their tires.

Wallace pulled away from Eckert, Schlieper, Smith, Bloomquist, Francis,
Babb, Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA, Mars, and Johnson. Eckert closed
back in on Wallace's back bumper by lap 75. The front five had checked
out
on the sixth through tenth place cars on lap 80.

With ten laps to go, Wallace and Eckert came up on the cars of Johnson and
Izzo, who were battling for the tenth spot. Wallace stuck to the bottom
groove right behind Izzo, while Eckert rode behind Wallace, not daring to
step out of the "sweet spot" on the race track.

The traffic in front of the leaders went away on lap 98 when Birkhofer
stalled the Seubert Calf Ranches Rocket/Pro Power Grand Prix in turn four
to
bring out the final caution flag and set up a three lap dash to the finish.
On the restart, Wallace pulled out to a three car-length advantage over
Eckert, and Smith passed Schlieper for the third spot, as Schlieper's tire
woes began.

In preliminary action, Mathees won the 15-lap Renegade Transporters/Polaris
ATVs Consolation Race. On Friday night, Birkhofer set fast time honors
among the 30 entrants with a lap in 19.258 seconds for an average speed
of
93.468 miles per hour.

In 15-lap Borla Performance Heat Race action on Friday night, Eckert won
the
JE Pistons Bonus Award of $100 with a first heat race win, and McDowell
won
the $50 Scott Performance Wire Bonus Award with a third heat race victory.
Schlieper won the second heat.

The next event for the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series will be on Tuesday night
