Morel Puts his Chevy Super Stock back in the winners circle
May 19,2001 Pike County Speedway

Novice B main started with Stephen Polk on the pole. Polk blasted into
the lead and led every lap to take the checkered. Henry Carroll ran second
every lap trying to reel in Polk but was unable too. Jesse Wallace took
third, and Terry Lee fourth..
Larry Disotell started on the pole of the A main .Joe Carboni took the
lead on the start. Disotell connected with another car and flew into the
infield. Turn four 10 and LeeRoy Callender connected, 10's wheel went flying.
On the restart it was Joe Carboni, Shawn Barber and Mark Hardwick. Joe
Carboni got a flat and Shawn Barber took over the lead and went on to score
the win. Mark Hardwick ran second and tried hard to get that lead but
couldn't. Third went to David Johnson, fourth Tudy Jackson and fifth Daniel
Williams. Heat winners were Hardwick, Joe Carboni and Daniel Williams .
Scott Holt, Davin Bates and Gregg Hollingsworth all took heat wins for
ump. Holt from the pole charged into the lead. Bates took the lead away then
Holt took it back. Bates got high in four and clipped the guard rail bringing
out yellow and earning himself a trip to the rear. On the restart Holt
leading the field off four. A spin in turn two by Chad Williams brought out
the yellow again. Holt had his hands full with second place Greg Freeman then
Hollingsworth took over second and Holt had to fight Hollingsworth off, but
in the final laps Gregg Hollingsworth got by and took the win, Greg Freeman
got second, Scott Holt third, Jason Taylor fourth. In a heat race Jerry
Cassano and Davin Bates ran almost the whole race wheel to wheel when down
the back straightaway Cassano tried to pass and got into the tires on the
back straight and up and over he went.
Pure stock expert had Justin Bowman on the pole. Bowman took the lead
followed by Hardy McMillan. Behind them was a three wide battle for third
between Chad Coon, Jamie Blades and Ryan Whitehead. Turn two Justin Bowman
the leader tangled with Chad Coon. On the restart Bowman was placed at the
rear. Coming for the checkered it was Chad Coon in the lead followed by Hardy
McMillan, Jamie Blades, Ryan Whitehead and Scott Womack. Bowman and McMillan
won the heats.
Kerry Vicknair and Mather Simeon shared the heat wins for street stock.
Vicknair led every lap to score the win followed by Matthew Simeon, Scotty
Case and Robert Ringo moved into fourth and Don Bolton took fifth.
Robert Morel and Donald Collins shared super stock heat wins. Morel
blasted into the lead. Billy Gordon took second and Collins third. Collins
took over second from Gordon then went after Morel in one Collins got under
Morel they touched and both spun. Collins was sent to the rear on the restart
and Morel back to the lead .Morel and Gordon crossed the line only a foot
apart Morel with the lead Gordon second. Charles Sibley third, Tim Thornton
fourth and Donald Collins had worked his way back to fifth. About halfway
through the race Ted Pearce running fifth lost a drive shaft and it hit his
leg,
Curt Lipsey, Eric Courville and Donald Watson took the heat wins for late
models. Lipsey started from the pole for the feature. Courville took the lead
over. Lipsey got under Courville and they ran wheel to wheel for the lead.
Rodney Wing took over the lead as Courville and Lipsey battled for second
behind Wing. Sam Patrick was running sixth when e died n turn three and
brought out the yellow. On the restart it was Wing, Courville, Lipsey ,
Watson and Riter top five while Patrick tagged the rear. Courville got beside
Wing and an entire lap they ran wheel to wheel for the lead. Donald Watson
took over third then got under Courville and they ran wheel to wheel for
second till Watson got it. On the last lap coming off three Watson got under
Wing they made contact and Watson spun while Wing went on to take the win
followed by Curt Lipsey, and Eric Courville. Sam Patrick had worked his way
all the way back to fourth after going to the rear. Larry Riter rounded out
the top five.
Pure Stock mechanic race was won by Joe Barfield, followed by Chris
Spears, Howard Cooper and Ronnie Case.
UMP mechanic winner was Joey Meyers.
Street Stock mechanic was won by Jack Webb who led every lap in his
thunder chicken. Bill Bolton took second, Donna Vicknair third.
