Rick Rickman Claims Another Victory at Columbus Speedway

Columbus, Mississippi-Rick Rickman from Columbus, Mississippi claimed his
second Super Late Model feature win of the year at Columbus Speedway. The
second generation racer was driving his Ruben's Catfish/Brown Engineering
Motors sponsored Larry Shaw Grand Prix. Crossing the line in second place
was Shelbyville, Tennessee's Jay Brinkley sporting a new Spec powered motor
along with Quitman's Scott Dedwylder, Columbus' Mark Stokes, and current
Columbus Speedway Super Late Model point's leader Shawn Edwards from
Louisville, Mississippi. Completing the top ten were Meridian's Jimbo
McDuffie, Northport's Tim Parker, Coker's Tony Gray, early leader Tim
Rutledge of Meridian, and Danny Hayes.

Action got started with Scott Dedwylder putting his Mindbender New Media
sponsored mount on the provisional pole during Pole
Qualifying with a 14.627-second lap on the high banked 3/10's mile clay oval
over another fine field of twenty four Super Late Models. Mark Stokes was
the second fastest qualifier on a track that would show its dry slick
personality as the night progressed. Dedwylder would draw a six for the
inversion of the starting field setting the stage for a fine race for the
front runners.

The caution plagued 30 lap main event would see Rick Rickman jump for 4th
starting position to the point after battling his way past upstart rookie
driver Tim Rutledge. Rickman would have to hold off numerous challenges from
Jay Brinkley, Scott Dedwylder, and Mark Stokes as the top four would often
go three wide through the turns. Not to be outdone, Louisville luminary
Shawn Edwards stuck his nose in the leaders business time after time as the
current Columbus Speedway point's leader edges ever so closely to claiming
the spoils of Victory Lane.

The always wild and wooly Pro Street division were getting dialed in for
their upcoming Spring Championship event and Detroit, Alabama's Frank Cox
would take the win over rival "Wild Bill" Sudduth with Randy Bush, Paul
Robinson, and Billy Franklin completing the top five. The always competitive
Street Stock class had another large field of competitors but a familiar
visitor to Victory Lane as Columbus' Lee Ray took another win followed by
Tim White, Gilbertown, Alabama's Terry Mosley, Columbus racer Chris Autrey,
and Northport's Jimmy Rogers.

The Mississippi Modified win once again went Jason Hollis. The Bounty on
Hollis continues to grow, as does the field of Bounty Hunters looking to
knock off the King of the Hill of Mississippi open wheel racers. Running a
close second was first year Modified pilot "Midnight" Matt Price with early
leader Dr. Rob Eaton in third, Meridian racer Traci Hudnall fourth, and
local driver Randall Reedwood completing the top five. The bounty on Hollis
is now $200 this Saturday night.

The Mini Stock class drivers once again put on a solid performance with
Vernon, Alabama driver Buddy Glover taking his Glover's Trucking Ford
Mustang to Victory Lane, Marty Oliver and Scott Gable claiming the podium.
Ronnie Wyers and Ryan Higdon completed the top five. The Pro 4 winner was
James Blakney of Carrolton, Alabama in his Gore Chassis Mini Late Model. The
runner up position went to Colby Glasgow with Jimmy Beachler third, Reform's
Steve Lowe fourth, and Wyman Blakney rounding out the top five.

The wild and crazy Cruiser class drivers on hand saw a the Cadillac of
Randall (Pip) Barton & Jamie Sudduth take the checkers with Will and Nick
House in second, Ken and Jenni Shirey taking the final podium spot, with
Alan Greenhaw and Blake Prescott in fourth and mystery drivers from parts
unknown in fifth. The Cruisers will also have their first ever Spring
Championship this coming Saturday night as well.

Columbus Speedway will host a Full racing Program this Saturday night May
19th. The next special events at Columbus Speedway include the USCS Sprint
Car Series on June 9th and the Southern All Star Super Late Model Series on
June 23rd. For event information call the Columbus Speedway event hotline at
