Ostrowski, Genske Strike Again in EWSC Action

by Sheila Karstaedt

Plymouth, WI

Milwaukee's Pete Ostrowski made it back to back wins by winning the WHBL 30 lap A-Main. Pole sitter, Paul

Pokorski, West Bend, took the early lead with Plymouth's Tim McMullen chasing him down. Laps 4 & 7 saw the

caution flag flying for spins on the track. Pokorski held on to the lead on the restarts until lap 12, when Ostrowski

used his trademark move by using the cushion to its fullest potential. Ostrowski was be hounded by Pokorski,

and McMullen for the lead when he came upon lap traffic. Making it through the traffic smoothly, Ostrowski went

on to win and also claimed the Tuschl Septic Systems Hard Charger Award followed by McMullen, Pokorski,

KenJay Fiedler, Sheboygan Falls, Grafton's Dennis Klumb, and Chuck Tuschl, Whitelaw. Fast time went to Cedar

Grove's Ben Schmidt.

The Limited Late Model feature was won by Sheboygan Falls **** Hed. The caution flag flew on laps 11 & 16

for cars getting together. Chasing Hed to the finish line was Mark Zimmermann, Kohler, JJ Walvoord of Oostburg,

John Scharenbroch of Sheboygan Falls, Kewaskum's Chad Espen, and Plymouth's Dan Dippel who also took

home fast time. The Bob Akright Memorial Hard Charger Award went to JJ Walvoord. The Limited Late Model

semi-feature went to Chilton's Scott Sohrweide.

The Super Stock feature again showed Brian Genske, Sheboygan Falls, showing no mercy as he takes home

his second feature win in as many weeks. With Mark Scholten, Oostburg, taking the early lead, the race got

off to a slow start with the yellow flag coming out on laps 2 & 4. On lap 18, Genske took over the lead and

never looked back. Following Genske was Plymouth's Brian Gilles and Jeff Muehlbauer of Elkhart Lake.

Bradley Ruh of Elkhart Lake won the semi-feature. Genske also took home the honors of fast time.

The Winged Super Modified B-Main proved to be quite interesting. Pole sitter, Bob Brion, Plymouth, took

control from the drop of the green flag and took it to the checkers. Plymouth's Tim Melis missed qualifying

and the heat races due to expiring his engine in hot lapping. With the hard work of his crew, they changed

engines and got Melis out to start in the back of the B-Main. He worked his way through traffic to finish third

and transfer to the A-Main only to have brake problems and wouldn't make the call. Finishing behind Brion was

Cambellsport's Robert Enders and Melis.

The Mighty 4's was again won by Rich Miske of Belgium.

The Winged Super Modifieds will be racing a points show at the Sunnyview Speed Zone, Oshkosh, on Friday,

May 18. Pits open at 3:30, admission gate at 5:00, with racing set to start at 6:30.

Racing resumes at the Sheboygan County Fair Park next Saturday with the 2nd annual clergy race.
