PERIGO BECOMES FIRST REPEAT SPORTSMAN WINNER
Stoystown's Carmen Perigo Jr. scored a convincing win over Steve Wilbur and
Bob Howard in the 25-lap super sportsman feature Saturday night at Silver
Spring Speedway to become the first repeat winner of the 2001 season. Perigo
started 14th and picked off almost one car per lap to take the lead from
Wilbur with an outside pass in turn two on the 14th lap.
York's Mark Billet passed Rick Kaylor for the lead following an 11th lap
restart and streaked away from the field for his second limited late model
feature win of the season over Tim Fedder and Carl Graves.
Hummelstown's Stan Wanner inherited the lead when Greg Foster and Roger
Leaman tangled in the fourth turn while racing for the lead with two laps to
go. Wanner then held off Gerry Stutting Jr. over the final two laps of the
20-lap feature to record his first ever street stock win.
