Lernerville Speedway 278 North Pike Road, Sarver, PA !6055 724-353-1511

Sarver, PA May 4, 2001

"Quick out of the gate" at Don Martin's Lernerville Speedway and using
all "the horses" to win the Triangle Gasoline Sprint feature was Jimmy Hawley
of West Middlesex. Hawley collected his first of the season in the Doc
Crawford owned C3. It was Garlands' "David "the Great" Scott that ruled for
the third time in the Friedman's Supermarket/Bi-Lo Foods Late Models. Second
generation driver, Tommy Marshall III of Kennerdell won a career first in the
Ferrante Oldsmobile V-8 Modified main and for the second consecutive week it
was Jeff Walters in the Dingbat's Restaurant Pure Stock victory lane.

The best medicine you can give your owner is a victory and that is what
Jimmy Hawley did in the 20-lap Triangle Gasoline Sprint feature. The owner
of Hawley's C3, Doc Crawford was on crutches with an ailing foot but was
quite happy to see Hawley back in the winning "saddle" once again. Once
Hawley came from fourth to pass Kevin Schaeffer on lap three, he soared
around the Sarver oval. Despite seven caution flag events that closed the
ranks, Hawley dominated to win by a straightaway over Rod George, padding his
point lead. Hawley said, "We've struggled a lot. The majority of the time
we've been using a new car that we've had all kinds of trouble. Tonight we
brought the old car." That made the difference. Hawley further said "Todd
Palmer is my new crew chief and I think that we are on the right track now."
Coming from the tenth spot Jamie Smith earned third ahead of Ralph Spithaler,
David Scott, Troy Preston, Kevin Schaeffer, Roger Bennett, Scott Priester and
Leonard Ripper. Hawley, Smith and Priester won the prelims and Mike Shearer
checkered the B-Main.

It was David Scott for the third of four nights in the action packed 20
lap Friedman's Supermarket's/Bi-Lo Foods Late Models. "I can't believe this!"
Scott said. Gary Lyle paced the field for fifteen circuits while Dave Norton
and Scott see-sawed back and forth for the second position. By lap ten, John
Flinner came from twelfth and was added to the mix along with fifteenth place
starter Bobby Bertges. Scott literally rode the cushion to get around Lyle
on lap 17 and kept it to the checker. Scott said, " I figured I was going to
win or break it in half!" With two laps to go, Flinner and Lyle came
together. Flinner earned the runner-up position and Lyle retained a flat tire
dropping to tenth. Bertges darted into third ahead of Norton. Five through
ten went to Dave Satterlee, Tom Kitchen, Jeff Henry, Bob Wearing Sr, Nick
Jones, and Lyle. Scott said, "I'd like to dedicate this win to my chassis
builder Carl Billet. Scott leads Finner by one digit in the Point's Race.
Flinner, Satterlee and Scott captured the heat races.

Tommy Marshall III found that "sweet smell of success" with his career first
20-lap Ferrante Oldsmobile Modified victory. Marshall was the fourth
different winner in as many nights of racing. Swartlander was the early
leader. On lap four, Winkle passed Swartzlander for the front spot and a
caution event occurred. On the restart, Swartzlander regained the front
position. He watched his lead vanish as the hard charging Marshall used the
high line to reel in Swartzlander. On lap 13 Marshall passed Swartzlander and
kept him at bay to the checker. Marshall III said, "I've been trying a long
time to get this! I've had many seconds but never a first." We finally got
one tonight!" He further said, "I thought Brian had it hands down but we kept
getting stronger!" Swartzlander tops the point's chart. Chetter Johnson had
a marvelous run, coming from thirteenth to place third. Eleventh place
starter Carl Weatherby was fourth and was trailed by Mike Sutton and Ralph
Spithaler in car 152, Brian Swartzlander made an error on the cushion in
turn four and dropped to seventh. Eight through ten went to Dave Harbaugh,
Adam Seigel and Frank Guidace. Marshall III and Guidace won the heat races.

When you're hot, you're hot! It was two weeks-in-a-row for Jeff Walters in a
door-to-door battle with a pack of cars in the 15 lap Dingbats Restaurant
Pure Stocks. Scott Bochek was the early leader and looked like the possible
winner but Walters, who started twelfth, kept whittling the competition to
eventually overtake Bochek on lap nine, using the inside line. "It was an
awesome drive around the bottom, like the car was on rails," Walters said.
Walters is the point leader over Butch Lambert. Lambert won the four-way
battle for second, ahead of Chris Schneider. Rob Kosecki came from twentieth
to earn the fourth spot with Joe Kelly fifth. Six through ten went to Joe
Yakich, Mike Faas, Paul Schreckengost, Jim Swezey and Lenny Wright.
Kelley, Schreckengost, and Dave Spangler won the heat races and Joe Yakich
claimed the B-Main.
