Quincy MI - (April 28, 2001) A great field of cars and a large crowd were on hand at the Butler Motor Speedway on Saturday night as Randy Nichols captured the 30 lap Street Stock feature.
Marty French started on the pole position of the feature and led the first four laps before Randy Nichols worked his way to the front. Nichols a former champion at Butler started fifth in the feature.
On lap seven the red flag came out as Grady Jarrell was exiting the track in turn one when the 11 car of Jack Redding hit the rear of Jarrells car at full throttle. The Safety First crew was immediatly on scene and both drivers were uninjured however Reddings car suffered severe front end damage.
Eric Wilson was working his way though the field from his eighth starting position before mechanical problems forced him to the pit area on lap seven.
Marty French still in the second position was working on Nichols when he leaped over the back banking. He was uninjured. This now put Jeff Woodsworth in second, Carl Forysthe to third Ron Lammon to fourth and Donovan Mathe to fifth. Eric Wilson came back onto the track one lap down.
On lap 11 Kittle pulled to the back bumper of Nichols in turns three and four but Nichols was able to pull away again. Meanwhile Wilson was working his way through the pack and was door to door with the leader Nichols before they touched and Wilson went spinning to the infield. Wilson was able to get back on the track to record a top five finish.
