Results Saturday Night April 21
Rushing Rolls over Columbus Speedway Competition!
Columbus, MS-The Columbus Speedway continues to draw more and more cars and
new fans each week as Johnny Stokes has brought new life back to the famed
3/10's mile high banked clay oval. Another extraordinarily large field of
Super Late Models were on hand to wage war with 35 of the crowd pleasing
Ground Pounders checked in for the evening's action. The headline event of
the night would belong to the Mini Stock class for their Spring Championship
The fans would see the first repeat winner of the year in the Super Late
Models as 'The Kosciusko Kid" of Anthony Rushing would set fast time with a
blinding 13.89-second on the fast oval during MidSouthRacing.com Pole
Qualifying and Rushing would draw for a straight up start as well. Rushing
in his Rocket chassis Jay Dickens powered Monte Carlo would go flag to flag
during the 30 lap main event while Rick Rickman would fend off father Eddie
Rickman with both Rickmans claiming a podium finish. Rounding out the top
five were David Breazeale and Weir's Tombo Callahan. Completing the top ten
were Jimbo McDuffie, Shawn Edwards, James Dean, Johnny Smith, and Scott
The headline event of the night was the Spring Championship for the Mini
Stocks. The man of the hour was Northport, Alabama's Robert Sanders who
would earn all the glory, the Championship trophy and a strong payday.
Following Sanders across the stripe were Tim Ritter, Mike Minor, Nick Deese,
and Robert Yates completing the top five.
The Pro Street victor was a jubilant Randy Bush. Paul Robinson finished a
strong second in the Heavy Metal class with "Wild" Bill Sudduth in third,
and Toby Nichols and Jamie Oglesby completing the top five.
The always exciting and potent Street Stock division once again provided one
of the finest shows of the evening with another full field of twenty-four
competitors on hand. Taking the checkers was veteran driver Tommy Gore in
his number 44 Camaro. Completing the hard fought top five were Terry Mosley,
Tim White, Bruce Myers, Richard West, and Jonathon Edwards.
The winner of the growing Mississippi Modified class was frequent Victory
Lane visitor Jason Hollis once again. The second place finisher was Meridian
race Jo Jo Reeves followed by Brian Hollis, "Midnight" Matt Price in his
first open wheel outing, and Doctor Rob Eaton completing the top five.
The Pro 4 Main event was won by Randy Petty followed by James Blakney,
Darrell Goins, Jimmy Beachler, and Wyman Blakney completing the top five.
TK King team was the winner in the Cruiser event followed by the team of
Brian Rickman and Ryan Cooper with Brad and Chad Fortner in third.
Columbus Speedway will play host to a Full Racing Program this Saturday
night plus an extra special attraction. Motorcycle stuntman Sky Lungston
will be make his debut appearance at Columbus Speedway. His high flying act
will feature motorcycle jumps plus various pyrotechnics as well. There will
be no added admission costs for this special event at Johnny Stokes
continues to offer the best value in motorsports entertainment in the
The next big special event at Columbus Speedway will be the Second Annual
John L Cliett Tribute on May 5th. The night will feature a time to celebrate
the life of one of Mississippi's most beloved racing community members. As a
fitting tribute, the best Super Late Model pilots in Mississippi will be on
hand for the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series event on this
momentous evening at one of the raciest tracks in the country. Please mark
