A two hour rain delay early in the evening did nothing to dampen the racing enthusiasm at The Greenwood Valley Action Track. With the of drivers and crews, track drying only took a few minutes and the track seemed better for the moisture.

Jeff Furlong, Selinsgrove, the 2000 GVAT Micro Sprint Champion, picked up his first Feature win of the new season in 270cc Micro Sprint action by threading his way through lapped traffic in the yellow flag-free race. Chasing Furlong and finishing second was Blane Heimbach, also from Selinsgrove, with Shane Penny, Berwick, taking third. In the fourth was Jim Reese, Bloomsburg, fifth place was claimed by another Bloomsburg rsident, Eric Heydenreich, and sixth place went to Scott Tate of Middleburg. Steve Lenig, Selinsgrove, took seventh place, while Jason Kemp, Bloomsburg, was eighth, Joey Finan, Milton, ninth and Jason Rice, New Tripoli, tenth.

Kyle Rhoads, in his first ever Micro Sprint ride captured top honors in the non-modified 250cc Micro Sprint Feature. The Sunbury resident led A.J. Bast and Rick Morris, Catawissa, across the finish line. In fourth was Rob Pajauis, Asbury, NJ, and fifth place was John “Hoss” Uhrin, Freeland. Sixth place went to Michael Ruttcamp, Wilton, CT, Pete Ziller, Bloomsburg, was seventh, Geoff Hogan eighth and Dusty Jagger, ninth.

The Rookie Micro Sprint Division at The Greenwood Valley Action Track looks to be an interesting training ground for open-wheel racers this year. Phil Weinsteiger, Green Lane, was the winner of the feature race with last week's feature winner, Matt Miller, Sunbury, finishing second. In third was Brayden Winters, Easton, fourth was Jesse Remensnyder, Mocanaqua, while Greg Spangler, Wapwallopen, was fifth and Nunzi Allegrucce was sixth. Seventh place went to Todd Hoover, eighth was Mike Burke, Orwigsburg, ninth place was Ross Perchak, Hazelton, and tenth Greg Shipe.

Tom Lynch, Lebanon, was the winner in the growing Slingshot category , while Paul Harig, Summit Station, was second, and Cody Roth, Kunkletown, third.

Join dirt racing enthusiasts at The Greenwood Valley Action Track every Saturday night through October. Two snack bars will provide dinner-out and the new bleachers will provide comfortable accomodations from which to veiw the action. Gates open at 2:30, warm-ups at 4:30 with racing getting underway at about 5. Lawn Tractors are back this coming week for an exciting show.
