Indiana, PA (April 7) - The Challenger Raceway was forced to cancel their scheduled racing program for Saturday, April 7.
"We just got hit with too much rain," track owner and promoter Jack Lentz said. "It's just too wet for us to try to race tonight. We got hit hard last night, overnight, and again early this morning. There's just too much water. It left us no choice but to cancel."
The Challenger Raceway now will attempt to present their season opening program on Saturday, April 14. The weekly Saturday night four division program features the Pittsburgh Crankshaft Late Models, with the Townsend Gas & Oil Mideastern Modifieds, Stewart Bus Line Pure Stocks, and Strictly Stocks. Point competition for the 2001 season will begin with this opening program. The gates open will open at 5:30, with the first race set for 7:30.
The first special event of the season will take place on Sunday, April 29. The Renegade STARS Racing Series will visit for the running of the "Spring Fling," with the winner earning $5,000, and the Mideastern Modifieds will also be on the card.
Challenger Raceway is located 6.4 miles southwest of US 422 on SR 286, then one mile north on McIntyre Road.
