Three Ford's turn Baton Rouge's oval Ford Blue
Darren Dean, Mark Hardwick and Mark Tate all shared heat wins for pure
stock. Darren Dean in his Ford powered ride from the pole brought the 24 car
field off four for the checkered. Dean led all 20 laps with Mark Hardwick
right tight on his back bumper. Yellow flew four laps in with a pile up in
four. On the restart it was Darren Dean, Mark Hardwick, Joseph Law, Darrel
Guy and Gordon McDaniels front five as tight as rusty lug nuts on a 57
Chevy. This was how they crossed the line and finished.
Ben Stephens and Chris Cassano took the heat wins for UMP. Chris Cassano
led early on till his Dad Jerry chased him down and took over the lead and
went on to get the win followed by Chris Cassano ,James Ward, Shane Hebert
,and Dale Aucoin.
Jason Wilks took the lead for street stock on the green then drifted
high in four and Gary Talbert took over the lead. Coming off turn four Wilks
got under Talbert, they made contact got hooked together and slid all the way
down the front straightaway till the end where they went into the wall. On
the restart it was Randy Jamison leading the way followed by Scooter Paetz.
Paetz tried to make the pass for the lead and did, but then broke and went in
the pits. Tommy Cannon in his Thunder Chicken took over the lead. Cannon was
the second one to turn Baton Rouge Oval Ford blue. Kerry Vicknair took second
and Randy Jamison third. Wilks took the heat win.
Scotty Covington took the lead on the start of the mini stock feature
followed by Wayne Everett. Everette lost it and took a trip into the infield.
When he came back out he was third behind Larry Clayton. Covington took the
win making it the third Ford winner of the night followed by Clayton,
Everette, Calvin Tyler and Joey King who ran a strong fifth. Covington and
Everett took the heat wins.
Randy Blanchard and David Knight took the heat wins for late models.
Blanchard and Knight had a drag race for the lead down the front
straightaway. Blanchard got the lead. Knight had his hands full with Bill
Gordon for second. Finally Gordon got second from Knight. Sam Patrick and
Knight battled for third till Knight got it. Kevin Watts moved into fourth
and Donald Watson took fifth.
Ricky Kirkland took the go kart win
