Rick Rickman Picks Up First Win of the Year at Columbus Speedway

Columbus, MS-The Full Racing Program at Columbus Speedway Saturday night saw Columbus home town hero Rick Rickman sweep the Pepsi Super Late Model racing activities by claiming Pole Qualifying with a 14.572-second around the high banked 3/10ís clay oval. The second generation racer would go flag to flag in the 30 lap Main Event to capture the victory over a 23-car field in his Sign Design/Reubenís Catfish House/Brown Engineering powered Larry Shaw chassis Monte Carlo. Following Rickman across the line were Harvey Tollison, Meridianís Tim Rutledge, Northport, ALís Ronny Hollingsworth, and ďThe Guntown AssassinĒ of Shane Cox. Rounding out the top ten were Clint Hardin, Craig Aldridge, Lance Johnson, Tony Gray, and Joe D. Hollis.

The Main Event of the evening was the Spring Championship for the Street Stock division with a 23-car field on hand to do battle on the Columbus clay. Action would get kicked off with Columbusí Tim White setting fast time with a 17.922-second lap to claim the Pole Qualifying honors. White would go on to claim his biggest victory ever and the coveted Spring Championship event prize money and trophy in the 15 lap Main Event. The remainder of the top five finishers was Tommy Reed, Jonathon Edwards, Eric Hughes, and Joey Weeks.

The big and bad Pro Street division saw the ever popular Bill Sudduth put is #22 machine in Victory Lane followed by perennial front runner Frank Cox along with Randy Bush, Paul Robinson, and Ed Atkins completing the top five. The Mini Stock victory was claimed by Scott Gable followed by CW Brewer, Mike Minor, Robert Sanders, and Michael Pendley. The Pro 4 division had Jimmy Beachler take the win with Darrell Goins in hot pursuit, James Blakeny in third, Ray Taylor in fourth, and Wyman Taylor completing the top five.
