WIRT RACING ANNOUNCES NEW SPONSORS & TEAM PLANS
Wooster,OH--- Popular Ohio dirt Late Model racer Dave Wirt, who celebrated his 25th anniversary as a dirt Late Model racer in 2000, will be returning to the dirt track wars in 2001 with new sponsorship and new goals. Wirt recently signed new sponsorship agreements with Dunn Brothers Premium Auto Corp., Hall’s Racing Central, Hoosier Tire and Curly’s Body Shop. In addition, several long time Wirt Racing supporters have returned to the fold for the 2001 campaign in which, for the first time in 26 years, Wirt will be gunning for a championship title at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio.
Dunn Brothers Premium Auto Corp., and Curly’s Auto Body are both located in Wooster, OH while Hall’s Racing Central, a leading motorsports parts distributor and retailer, is based in Mansfield, OH. Hoosier Tires Company is located in Lakeville,IN. Returning as sponsorship supporters to the Wirt Racing #991 include Roto-Rooter, Tri-M Block, Santmyer Oil Co., Troyer’s Old Fashion Beef Jerky, Scott Lemar-Stoneman, Mark Bachus Auctioneer, Fought Signs, Power Computers, Wirt Towing, Rocket Chassis and Draime Racing Engines.
Wirt, who scored one feature win at Wayne County Speedway and a third place finish in WCS points. Wirt, who has never pursued a points title, opting to travel instead, has decided to take a shot at Wayne County Speedway’s championship title.
“I’ve never committed to one track before to go after a championship, but I think now is a good time,” commented Wirt. “Wayne County is a nice facility and the competition is fierce, especially with an average of 40 Late Models a week. But we feel confident in our chances and our equipment and crew is top notch. I’m excited about it and look forward to the challenge.”
Wirt will be racing a Rocket Chassis and will again have Draime Racing Engines under the hood for power. The Wirt Racing crew will consist of Rick Seymour, Brad Seymour, Brandon Morrow, Roger Riffle, Jerry Kelly, Scott Lemar and Jim Figley.
In addition to the WCS championship chase, Wirt and team also plan to travel on Friday and Sunday nights and have inked in stops at various STARS, MACS and UDTRA sanctioned events, as well as racing events at Raceway 7, Lakeville Speedway, St. Clairsville Speedway, Attica Raceway Park and Muskingum County Speedway.

The first race of the season for Dave Wirt and Wirt Racing will be on Saturday April 7 at Wayne County Speedway.
