R&J Promotions takes charge at Bloomfield Speedway
BLOOMFIELD, Iowa (Feb. 19) - The R&J Promotions duo will be in charge of a second race track this season.
Jerry Potts and his son Ron are new promoters of the Bloomfield Speedway. They also promote their home-town Eldon Raceway.
"A lot of drivers race at both tracks, so Ron and I decided to add Bloomfield to our schedule, too," the senior Potts said. "We didn't know if anyone else would be interested in promoting there and we really didn't want to see it close if no one else was. The track is already pretty well set and the fair board has indicated they'll do some work on some of the seating."
The 3/8 mile dirt track is located at the Davis County Fairgrounds. An open practice is planned April 6, with points races starting on April 18 and continuing on Friday nights through Aug. 29.
Eldon's practice day is scheduled for April 5, with the season opener on Saturday, April 12.
I.M.C.A.-sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks headline regular weekly programs at both tracks, along with a two-person cruiser class.
