Challenger adds September 7 event to schedule
Indiana, PA (August 2) - Jack and Donna Lentz, owners and promoters of the Challenger Raceway near Indiana, PA have announced the addition of a racing event to their abbreviated 2002 season. This event has been added to their previously scheduled Fall Fest VIII, that annually is one of the biggest season-end racing events in the area.
The added event has been scheduled for Saturday, September 7. It will feature a Fall Fest tune-up race for the Late Models, and it will be an unsanctioned event with the winner earning $4,000. Also on the card will be the E-Mod division, as they will be racing for $400 to win. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held on Sunday, September 8. Gates will open at 5:00, with racing at 7:30.
A scheduled construction project forced the cancellation of the regular racing season at the track. However, delays in the start of the construction have continued to hamper the project. With the timetable pushed so far back, the season-end racing events are now the priority.
Fall Fest VIII will definitely be held on October 11 though October 13, featuring racing for six different divisions.
The kickoff for Fall Fest will be on Friday, October 11. There will be a Late Model special presented by the Challenger Raceway, as the 35-lap main event will pay $4,000 to the winner. Micro Sprints will run their Fall Fest preliminaries, as there will be practice for all divisions.
Fall Fest activities will start on Saturday, October 12, as the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series Late Models will be the headline division. They will compete in qualifications and heat races on this day. The Micro Sprints will run in their feature events, as the York Triathlon Series Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Strictly Stocks, and Dwarf Cars will run their heat race events.
Fall Fest VIII will conclude on Sunday, October 13 with Last Chance Races and features for the MACS Late Models, York Triathlon Series Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Strictly Stocks, and Dwarf Cars. The winner of the MACS Late Model main event will pocket a cool $15,000 from the $100,000 purse.
