"Scooby & Shaggy" to highlight August 3 at Mercer Raceway Park

Mercer, PA.Mercer Raceway Park will be the site of "Scooby & Shaggy" Live
next Saturday night, August 3 as part of another exciting Max Weiss Law Firm
(Meadville, Pa.) 2002 Special Family Event. It will be the first appearance
at the speedway by "Scooby Doo" and his sidekick "Shaggy". The tandem will
be available to meet and greet the kids from approximately 5-7 p.m., then
throughout the facility the remainder of the night. The appearance is made
possible by The Cartoon Network and Ray's Racing Collectibles.
A full night of racing is on tap with the Luxaire Heating &
Cooling Sprint Cars, Big-Block Modifieds, New Castle School of Trades
Sportsman Modifieds, and the Butterfield's Pub Stock Cars. The month of
August signals the homestretch of the point races. The current point
leaders in the four divisions are all in search of their first ever track
championships including Troy Preston (West Middlesex, Pa.) Sprint Cars, Tim
Doran (New Castle, Pa.) Big-Block Modifieds, Jerry Schaffer (Ellwood City,
Pa.) Sportsman Modifieds, and Shaun Hooks (New Castle, Pa.) Stock Cars.
Activities will be scattered around racing including another
Grove City Auto Mall "Meet Your Heroes" Night. The stars and cars of the
sprint car division will be signing autographs from approximately 6-6:30
p.m. The first 300 kids will receive a custom, color card to obtain
autographs. Then at intermission, kids' bike races will be held for the
second and final time this season. Helmets are required to compete.
Throughout the night, kids can register to win another huge toy basket
provided by Fox 17/62 and WKBN 27.
Gates open for the festivities at 4:30 p.m. The first racing
will take place at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $10. The family pass is $23.
Students 6-15 are $5. Children five and under are free. For more
