STARS 34th Hillbilly 100 at Tyler County Speedway Set For September 1st and
(Middlebourne, WV) The West Virginia Labor Day weekend tradition
continues on September 1st and 2nd as the Fastest 1/4 Mile of Dirt in West
Virginia roars to life with the STARS 34th Annual HILLBILLY 100. The 2002
HILLBILLY 100 looks to be better than ever with the winner taking home the
largest paying one day Super Late Model event in the country. The high
banks and lightning quick surface will provide race fans and drivers alike
with excitement that only the Hillbilly 100 can provide.
In 1998 the Hillbilly 100 moved to it's current home, Tyler County
Speedway in Middlebourne, WV. Ever since, it has been at the top of
everyone's "must see" list of Premier Late Model events.
Steve Shaver of Parkersburg, WV out-dueled Donnie Moran and Rick
Aukland for the HILLBILLY 100 Title in 1998 posting the biggest and most
prestigious win in his career. Davey Johnson of Greensburg, PA notched the
HILLBILLY 100 victory in 1999 holding off all charges from the best in the
business that included Scott Bloomquist, Steve Francis, Billy Moyer, Steve
Shaver, Mike Balzano and a host of others. Davey Johnson posted the win in
2000, dominating the star-studded field from the green to the checkers.
Donnie Moran of Dresden, OH claimed the 2001 installment of the Hillbilly
100. Moran stalked the quality field for the first 90 laps then made his
move to the front, charging to the outside, and riding the rim to the
$25,000 victory. Who will claim the HILLBILLY 100 $25,000 winners share in
2002? Make plans to be a part of this West Virginia Tradition and see
first hand the most exciting racing action you'll ever see on the fastest
1/4 mile of dirt in West Virginia.
