VINTON, Iowa (May 15) Drivers in the I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modified and Stock Car divisions will race for points, and for point fund shares, in the four-date Upper Midwest Series.
Hancock County Speedway at Britt hosts the opening event on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.
A pair of events at Lions Club races follow, at the Arlington, Minn., Raceway on Tuesday, June 11 and at Redwood Speedway in Redwood Falls, Minn., on Tuesday, July 23.
Completing the series is the Thursday, Aug. 22 race at Jackson, Minn., Speedway.
Modifieds will race for $600 to win. Top prize for the Stocks is $400. A $1,000 point fund has been established for each division.
Champions will be crowned in both the Modified and Stock Car divisions. Upper Midwest Series crowns will also count as track titles in I.M.C.A.s post-season tiebreaking procedure to determine national and regional point standings.
The series is intended to give weekly racers who want to do a little traveling the opportunity to compete at different tracks not so far from their hometown.
