Both the I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modified and Stock Car divisions will be on the race card, for a program that gets under-way at 4 p.m. The series date was removed from the original schedule because of uncertainties regarding operation of the Royse City track in 2002. “We have been getting calls about this race since the series opened in February,” I.M.C.A. Vice President of Opera-tions Brett Root. “Putting it back on the schedule for May 5 complies with a minimum 10-day requirement we have for re-scheduling sanctioned events.” Ten series races now remain for the Modifieds and nine for the Stocks with the Royse City date back on the schedule. Drivers’ 10 best finishes will be used to determine series champions. The top driver in the final Modified standings earns $2,000, while the Stock Car titleist pockets $1,000. Five races have already been held in class. Two-time defending champion Henry Witt Jr. holds the Modified points lead while Tim Clonch sits atop the current Stock Car standings. Questions about the series can be directed to Root, at (319) 472-2201.
