First regional Stock Car crowns to Anderson, Pritchett
VINTON, Iowa (Oct. 4) - The first regional championships awarded to I.M.C.A. Sunoco Stock Car competitors go to Jeff Anderson and Duain Pritchett.
Anderson, from Atlantic, Iowa, adds the SCS Fabricating Northern Region title to his string of national titles. Pritchett, from Combine, Texas, paced the Destroyer Chassis Southern Region.
His 2001 campaign was typically busy as Anderson started 76 regular weekly feature events.
He won 33 of those races, finished in the top five another 25 times and was track champion at Shelby County Speed-way in Harlan. Anderson leads the Stock Car career wins list with 173 checkers.
Following his rookie of the year campaign with an equally stellar sophomore season, Pritchett won 24 features He ran in the top five in another two dozen of his 70 outings.
Pritchett owns 50 wins in his first two seasons, the fastest such start for any I.M.C.A. Sunoco Stock Car driver.
