IMPERIAL,PA…The 13th Annual Renegade STARS sanctioned "Pittsburgher 100" will
be run as scheduled this weekend, Friday September 14th through Sunday
September 16th, at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway near Pittsburgh,
PA. In light of the terrorist strikes on our country, the speedway has been
flooded with phone calls concerning the running of the biggest dirt Late
Model event in Pennsylvania.
According to Miley Motorsports President, Red Miley, "We have been in
contact with officials from the Renegade STARS Racing Series since this
terrible tragedy occurred, and after reviewing the situation, we felt it best
for all concerned that the event continue. A special tribute will be made to
those who have suffered as a result of these horrific events". Miley went
on to add, "As always, the racing community will pull together to help in
this time of national crisis."
Renegade STARS Racing Director Bret Emrick stated, "What happened to our
country Tuesday is simply tragic, and we know that our fellow Americans, as
well as ourselves, are in mourning over what happened. Those at Miley
Motorsports, and all of us at the STARS Racing Series feel that we need to
go ahead with the running of the "13th Annual Pittsburgher 100" this weekend."
Friday night, the STARS Late Models and E-Modifieds will practice, and
there will be a complete program for the Pure Stocks and Amateur Stocks.
Grandstand gates open at 6pm with practice to start at 6:30. Adult admission
is $8, and kids 12 and under are free.
Grandstand gates open at noon Saturday with time trials for the STARS
Late Models set for 4pm, and the heat races will follow. There is also a
complete program for the E-Modifieds paying $1,000 to win.
Then on Sunday gates open at eleven with the STARS B-Mains getting
underway at 3:30pm. There will also be the Fast Dash followed by the
"Pittsburgher 100". General admission adult two-day tickets are $38. Sunday
only is $38. Kids 9-14 are $9 each day, and children under 9 are free both
