Minersville, PA - (Aug. 24)– Although the Modifieds appear to be stealing the spotlight with Big Diamond Raceway’s 22nd Annual Coal Cracker 100 on Friday night, August 31, the Sportsman Stocks have not been forgotten and will play a big part in the weekend of speed. The NASCAR ShorTrack Sportsman will also be in competition in a 20-lap event that is planned to be the final NASCAR ShorTrack Sportsman point race of the season on Thursday night, August 30 at 7:30. This event has been changed from 25 to 20 laps as the pit gate admission has been reduced to $15 inlieu of the usual $25. The track will also be open for a special open practice night for Modifieds, Roadrunners and any other division Additionally the Sportsman competitors will also be permitted to compete in the Coal Cracker 100 provided they have a Big Diamond Raceway inspected andsealed engine prior to arriving at the track for the 100 on Friday. Sportsman cars meeting this requirement will be permitted to run their car totally under the normal Big Diamond Raceway Sportsman rules or they will be permitted to replace their carburetor with a 650 carburetor. But the important fact is that the Sportsman wishing to compete in the 100 must have their engines inspected and sealed prior to August 31. The Friday night Coal Cracker 100 will pay $10,000 to win and racing starts at 8PM. The roadrunners will also see action in a 20-lap championship feature event program.
