(St. Marys, WV) The October 20th and 21st fall Super Late Model Classic, The
21st Annual Jim Dunn Memorial Dirt Track World Championship at the Legendary
Pennsboro Speedway has some changes for 2001. Every change is positive and
will make this Dirt Track World Championship the biggest and best ever in
the history of the event.
The 2001 Jim Dunn Memorial DTWC will again guarantee its purse. The event
that "started it all" will pay a top prize of $50,000 to win in the 100-lap
feature event. The big change in the purse is a reward to all that have
participated in the 20-year history of the event. $2000 to start is the
reward to all that make the starting field. Drivers and fans for years have
made the suggestion to "beef up" the bottom end of the DTWC purse. This
year it is a reality, the bottom end shows a 100% increase over the history
of the event. The Super Late Models will compete under UDTRA Racecar
Specifications. DTWC race procedures will govern the event.
The always exciting and highly competitive Street Stocks will join the Super
Late Models on the 2001 DTWC race card. The Street Stocks will bust loose
on the "D Shaped Oval" in the 25 lap $2000 to win, $200 to start main event.
The Street Stocks will be racing for a record purse in the DTWC. The Street
Stock Purse shows a 25% increase from 2000 to 2001. Once again bigger and
better than ever.
Hot Laps, Time Trials, 6-20 lap heat races for the Super Late Models and the
preliminary events for the Street Stocks will fill Saturday October 20th
with heart pounding action. Then the off track magic starts and the party
begins. Live entertainment topped off with the return of a fan favorite,
the Ox Roast.
On Sunday October 21st, the on track action begins with 3 20-lap B-mains for
the Super Late Models and B-mains for the Street Stocks. The Street Stocks
take center stage for their 25-lap $2000 to win, $200 to start feature
event. Then it will be time for the grand finale. The hills of West
Virginia and the town of Pennsboro will roar to life when 28 of the best
Super Late Models in the world "throw fire to the iron" in the 100-lap,
$50,000 to win, $2000 to start 21st Annual Jim Dunn Memorial Dirt Track
