WITH TRACK PREP CHIEF BUTCH JONES STILL UNDER WEATHER, NO RACING AT EAST
WINDSOR SPEEDWAY THIS FRIDAY (AUGUST 17)
EAST WINDSOR, N.J. ~ With track manager and speedway preparation crew leader
Don "Butch" Jones still under the weather after a bout with heat-related
illness on August 8, the East Windsor Speedway will be dark this Friday
evening (August 17). Because of this development, track management and
officials have again done some rescheduling for the final weeks of the season.
The annual "**** Craig's Banner Night" festivities have now been set for
Friday night, August 24. On this night, the fans and their artistic creations
will join the Modified, Sportsman and Street Stock racers in the spotlight.
On August 31, the Modifieds get top billing in the "Fan Favorite Twin
20's." In addition to the pair of Modified main events, the Sportsman and
Street Stock cars will also be on the 7:30 p.m. agenda.
September 7 action will be of the "Run What Ya Brung" variety for the
Modifieds, Sportsman and Street Stock cars. This night will also serve as the
"Len Sammons Memorial Night."
The following Friday evening, September 14, will offer the annual "Bill
Nichols Memorial Night" program, reset from August 17. "Nichols Memorial"
action will see the Modifieds compete in a 25-lap main event, while the
Sportsman cars race in a 20-lapper and the Street Stocks battle in a 15-lap
The point races in all three divisions will then be decided on September
21 with the running of the annual "Hoosier Tire 50" for the Modifieds. The
Sportsman and Street Stock cars will also be an important part of this 7:30
The 2001 campaign is then scheduled to conclude on Friday night,
September 28, with "Run What Ya Brung" action slated for all four divisions.
Located just minutes from Exit 8 of the New Jersey Turnpike on Airport
