DIRT TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RETURNS TO ITS BIRTH PLACE
PENNSBORO SPEEDWAY AND PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE LATE JIM DUNN

(St. Marys, WV) Dirt Track World Championship Officials would like to
extend their deepest apologies to the dirt late model community for the
delay in announcing the site of the 21st Annual Jim Dunn Memorial, Dirt
Track World Championship. Efforts to have the DTWC stay in West Virginia
have been the top priority for DTWC Officials. As negotiations broke down
with WVMS, the home of the 1999 and 2000 DTWC, it became evident that
another racing facility would be needed to host the DTWC in 2001. Today
the search for the perfect place ended successfully. An agreement was
completed and finalized which will keep the October Late Model Spectacular
in West Virginia for 2001. DTWC officials are pleased to announce the 21st
Annual Jim Dunn Memorial Dirt Track World Championship will be back at the
racetrack where it was born in 1981. The "magic" returns in 2001, as the
Legendary Pennsboro Speedway will host the 21st Annual Jim Dunn Memorial,
Dirt Track World Championship on October 20thand 21st.

The Dirt Late model world has waited patiently for this announcement. The
wait is over and it has been well worth it, as the DTWC returns to its
birthplace. The return to Pennsboro provides fans and drivers the
opportunity to pay tribute to the late Jim Dunn, the inaugural winner of
the DTWC. Dunn, a legend in the dirt late model business, showed the
racing world how to handle adversity, a challenging racing surface and the
best drivers in the world. Dunn, starting on the tail at the drop of the
green, worked his magic passing the best in the business capturing the
first ever Dirt Track World Championship. Dunn put on a driving clinic,
which has yet to be matched in the 20-year history of the DTWC. Many in
the racing business attribute "the magic of Pennsboro" to the spectacular
performance of Jim Dunn on that late October afternoon.

Recent upgrades at the Legendary Pennsboro Speedway will provide fans and
racers alike
with some of the best racing since the early 1980's. New clay and safety
features around the facility will encourage the racing action to be two
grooved. Once again the DTWC will be a "must see race" and with the return
to Pennsboro, it's a "must attend event." This may be a once in a lifetime
opportunity for fans and drivers alike to capture the DTWC "magic" of
Pennsboro. As thousands before have stated, "there's nothing like
experiencing the magic of Pennsboro Speedway." Many thought the
opportunity to experience the exciting and always entertaining DTWC at the
Legendary Pennsboro Speedway was a memory of the past. But now
the reality is, everyone can do it again on October 20th and 21st. The
magic of Pennsboro will roar to life on October 20th and 21st when the
racing world honors a legend and the best in the business ascend on the
town of Pennsboro, in the 21st Annual Jim Dunn Memorial Dirt Track World
Championship.
