SCHMIDT TRUCKING/EUCLID HOTEL PRESENT REGULAR DIRT RACING PROGRAM
THIS SUNDAY JULY 29 AT UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY
VERNON, NY – Professional DIRT Motorsports sanctioned stock car racing continues this Sunday July 29 during the 40th anniversary season at Utica-Rome Speedway. Scheduled for race competition on Schmidt Trucking/Euclid Hotel & Restaurant Night are the mighty DIRT 358-Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Slingshots. Race time at the popular half-mile on Route 5 is set for 6pm.
Todd Burley of Spencerport has been the dominant driver in the headline DIRT 358-Modified division to date this season with an 85-point lead in the standings and four feature wins as he looks for his first career track title. The legendary Jack Johnson has three wins, with one win each for JJ Michaels, Danny Johnson, and John Ramsey. Just some of the top drivers challenging Burley and the others for the huge Schmidt Trucking/Euclid Hotel & Restaurant 30-lap feature win will be Steve Hulsizer, Mitch Gibbs, Paul Jensen, Jim Rothwell, Ron Holmes, John Barker, Jason Barney, Gus Schmidt, and Ryan Baye.
Jensen, seeking his fifth career track championship, will try win his first feature in three years and gain points on Burley as the season winds down. Former Big Block Modified track champion Kenny Tremont could be invading Utica-Rome any given week, and would definitely add to the competition in the 358-Modified division.
Tim Clemons leads the DIRT Sportsman division with four victories as he attempts to win his first career track championship at Utica-Rome. Willy Decker, Jamie Christian, Shawn Donath, and defending champion Kevin Crave all have other things in mind as they try to keep Clemons out of victory lane.
Jerry Holmes and John Pietrowicz have been the dominant cars in the DIRT Pro Stocks, but Bret Belden has been consistent and maintains a second place points ranking as he tries to win his first feature of the season. Dave Moyer, Jason Rood, Wayne Archer, and Eric Vanderhoof could also be top contenders as the summer comes to end. Jeff Pastorella has been the man to beat in the Pure Stocks, while the Slingshots have been very competitive in only their second year with six different winners.
You can be a part of all the family fun and excitement this summer at the ultra-fast Utica-Rome Speedway, a popular Sunday tradition in the Mohawk Valley that produces some of the most-thrilling three and four wide racing on the entire DIRT Motorsports circuit. On average, over 110 cars show up weekly for the action packed five division show, which is normally completed before 10pm to allow everyone time to go home and prepare for the week ahead.
The track is located just east of the village of Vernon on Route 5 and is easily accessible from New York State Thruway Exit 33. Free parking and overnight camping is allowed on speedway grounds.
The gates this Sunday July 29 at Utica-Rome Speedway on Schmidt Trucking/Euclid Hotel & Restaurant night will open at 4pm, with racing taking the green from Starter Chip Burdick at 6pm.
