Deery Series added to Hamilton County Fair entertainment
WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (July 12) - The added attraction at this year's Hamilton County Fair isn't on the midway, and the winner won't be getting a blue ribbon.
The Deery Brothers Summer Series for I.M.C.A. Sunoco Late Models travels to Webster City on Thursday, July 26. The race is part of the week's grandstand entertainment during the week of the fair.
Pit gates will open at 4:45 p.m., hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m.
Defending series champion and current points leader Mike Smith of Jewell was the winner when the 2001 series opened at Hamilton County Speedway on April 1.
Smith has a 12-point advantage over Mark Burgtorf of Quincy, Ill. Jason Friesen of Sutton, Neb., is third, six points behind Burgtorf.
Jeff Aikey of Cedar Falls won four of the previous 17 series races held at Hamilton County Speedway.
Two dates off, another added to Challenge Series schedule
VINTON, Iowa - Two dates are now off, but another has been added to the Friesen Chevrolet Challenge Series for I.M.C.A. Sunoco Late Models.
The race rained out June 3 at Belleville, Kan., High Banks will not be re-scheduled. Also scratched was the Aug. 8 race at Butler County Speedway in Rising City, Neb.
New to the schedule is an Aug. 11 event at Beatrice, Neb., Speedway.
Nine races are in the books and nine more remain on the updated series slate.
Next up is the Friday, July 13 race at McCook, Neb., Speedway. Two features are on tap July 18 at US 30 Speedway in Columbus, Neb., including the main event lost to wet weather back on May 9.
