Ernie Ball Moto Music Madness Tour Hits Benton on July 15
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (June 28, 2001) Ernie Ball Moto Music Madness will stop at more than 40 motor speedways throughout America, including Benton on July 15, combining the aerial insanity of freestyle motocross with the latest in live music, plus an interactive consumer area.
The Benton stop takes place at the Auto Tire & Parts Race Park at 817 County Highway 505. The gate opens at 3pm with live music, and the motocross competition begins shortly thereafter. Attendees can also meet with the riders and bands beforehand, play guitars, and check out other interactive booths. For more ticket information, contact the Auto Tire & Parts Race Park at (573) 335-7463.
The event features world class freestyle motocross athletes (including Mike Jones, Clifford Adoptante, Trevor Vines, Dan Pastor, Jeremy Carter and others) performing daredevil adrenaline-driven stunts on their motorized bikes in mid-air, from handstands (the "Hart Attack") to flying through the air holding on to just the rear fender (the "Superman"). The Tour kicked off on May 24 in Salt Lake City, UT, criss-crossing the U.S. and ending in New Jersey in mid-August.
Live music will contribute to the festival-like atmosphere with headlining band and Indy Favorite "The Army of Freshmen" at each stop. Ernie Ballís Local Heroes stage will also turn up the volume, featuring two local bands playing at each venue selected by local radio stations.
The Army of Freshmen, a heavy pop rock band out of Ventura, CA, introduced their first full length CD (self titled) recently released on Blue Hand Records, produced by 70ís rock legend Jay Ferguson. According to the band, their music is "punky enough for the jocks to pit to but at the same time has enough pop hooks to make your granny pogo." The band members, each 22-years-old, are Chris Jay- vocals; Aaron Goldberg- guitar, vocals; Owen Bucey- keyboards, vocals; Dan Clark- keyboards; One' Nielsen- bass; Mike Rini- drums.
