Next Deery Series dates at Quincy, Hawkeye Downs
VINTON, Iowa (June 26) - Another trip to Quincy and the annual adventure on pavement come up next on the Deery Brothers Summer Series schedule.
The I.M.C.A. Sunoco Late Model series heads to Quincy, Ill., Raceway on Tuesday, July 3, for its second of three visits there this season.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m. for the pre-Independence Day show. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.
Defending series champion Mike Smith of Jewell, Iowa, has won three of the first seven Deery races this season and takes the points lead into the next race.
Mark Burgtorf of Quincy was the winner the first time the series came to his home-town track this season and he's just six points behind Smith. Two-time winner Gary Russell of Biggsville, Ill., is third in the current standings, 20 points out of the top spot.
Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids hosts the Tuesday, July 10 show and Winston Cup driver Ken Schrader will return for another race with the series regulars.
Schrader ran fourth in his Deery debut at Cedar Rapids last season. He'll sign autographs again and a drawing will be held to give away various prizes, among them die cast collectibles and posters.
