June 21, 2001 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mercer, PA. Mercer Raceway Park's second annual American Patriot Night will
be held at the track again on Saturday, June 30. A complete program of
Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars, Bolland Machine Big-Block Modifieds,
New Castle School of Trades Sportsman Modifieds, and Butterfield's Pub Stock
Cars will be on the card.
For the second consecutive year, all veterans of war will be admitted free
with identification. Last year's event brought out nearly 200 veterans to
enjoy the night as a guest of ours. To compliment the night, a huge and
spectacular fireworks display will be put on after sunset. This display drew
rave reviews last year and is expected to again do the same this year. Walt'
s of Mercer Plaza and Pizza Joe's are the sponsors of the fireworks.
"We are again inviting all of the veterans out to enjoy a night on us," said
owner Vicki Emig. "We want to show our thanks to them and honor them on this
special night. Our hope is to continue to draw more and more veterans for
the event each year."
A rain date for the following Saturday, July 8 has been scheduled. Gates
open at 4:30 with racing set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Adult admission is $10.
Students 6-15 are $5. Children five and under are always free. The family
pass, which admits mom, dad, and up to four kids, is $23. For more
