New Egypt Boys Ready For DIRT Invasion
New Egypt, NJ (June 8) -- As June 21 nears, New Egypt's top Modified drivers
have drawn a line in the sand. The message is loud and clear to DIRT's top
stars who'll be invading their turf in the Jersey pine barrens on that
Thursday night: step over the line, and all outsiders will be in for the
fight of their lives!
Get ready for the one and only Garden State Gunfight at New Egypt Speedway,
the sole New Jersey appearance this year of DIRT's potent posse of top
draws. And they're all set to blow into town and steal the $6,000 winner's
share in the June 21 Advance Auto Parts Super DIRT Series 100-lap Modified
shootout, sponsored by Haldeman Ford of Hamilton, NJ.
The names include all the Northeast's Modified superstars. On the DIRT
roster, there's Alan and Danny Johnson, Brett Hearn, Steve Paine, Billy
Decker, Tim McCreadie, Kenny Tremont, Doug Hoffman, Jimmy Horton and Jack
Johnson -- a real pack of heavy hitters with big resumes and bigger
artillery. New Egypt hotshots will be led by the likes of Billy Pauch, Kenny
Brightbill, Frank Cozze, Keith Hoffman and Brian Weaver -- all feature
winners already this season.
To further spark the confrontation, this shootout is once again on brand-new
turf. When DIRT first invaded in 1998, the New Egypt track was a third-mile
oval; DIRT stalwart Bob McCreadie blew by the regulars to win that initial
event. When the DIRT gang returned in 2000, New Egypt's own Mod champ Billy
Pauch shut down the invaders on a slightly larger 4/10ths-mile track
configuration. With the speedway expanded again this year, to a half-mile
semi-banked tri-oval, and the score in this event now tied at one-one, both
sides will be packing plenty of heat to prove who's who.
Will DIRT's top cowboys successfully ambush the locals and make off with the
money for the second time? Or will the Jersey regulars turn this showdown
into DIRT's second date with disaster?
Don't miss New Egypt's Garden State Gunfight on Thursday, June 21, the
biggest Modified show in New Jersey this year. Gates open at 4 pm, with
warmups scheduled for 6:30 and time trials starting at 7 pm. Adult admission
is $20, children 7-12 are $7, and kids 6 and under are always free. The
speedway is located on Route 539, minutes from Six Flags Great Adventure and
the NJ Turnpike. For more information, call the track office at (609)
