Cleveland (TN) Speedway Ready to Race Sat. June 2nd

The Cleveland Speedway is in the midst of it's 2001 Championship Season, and there's no signs of slowing for the recently reconfigured Tennessee Valley area dirt track. The season is alive with racers not just from Tennessee, but from Georgia, North Carolina and Alabama all attempting to make an appearance in victory lane on any given Saturday night. Racer's begin filling up the inner (track) pit area about 4PM and use the three hours until start time to prepare and tune their "speed machines". Grandstand open and racefans begin filing in about 5PM, preparing for action by visiting the concession stand, souvenir booth, and childrens playground area, until the racecars take to the track at 7PM. Five divisions (the Super Late Models, the Claimer Late Models, the Hobby's, the Pony Stocks and the Street) run Qualifying Time Trials (SLM's only), and preliminary heat races before vying for the money in the "A" Main feature races. The action continues through the night and usually concludes well before midnight hour. For more information and/or directions to the track visit the official Cleveland Speedway web-site www.clevelandspeedway.com or call the track office at (423)479-8574.
