June begins the summer-long family promotions at Mercer

By Mike Leone

May 24, 2001 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mercer, PA.The month of June kicks off a great summer of family promotions
at Mercer Raceway Park. While Mercer Raceway Park offers some of the best
short-track, wheel-to-wheel racing around, there is also loads of
entertainment available for everyone. The kids are ready to be set loose
from school and with the warm weather approaching, why not bring the entire
family to Mercer Raceway Park- "the family place at the family price".

June 2 is labeled as Summer Fun Kickoff. Pittsburgh-area water theme parks,
Sandcastle and Idlewild, will be giving away over 150 admission tickets to
their parks. Also that night, Garfield, a favorite by people of all ages,
will be on hand to meet the kids thanks to Kennywood.

On June 9, the standard little league night has been expanded. This year
known as Mahoning Valley Scrappers Night, the Niles, Ohio-based Cleveland
Indian minor league franchise will be giving away over 100 tickets to their
ballpark. The M.V.S. mascot, "Scrappy", will be on hand to meet the kids.
Also, thanks to sporting goods company, Rawlings, 300 official baseballs
will be given out to the kids. All little leaguers in jersey will be
admitted free.

June 16 will be the biggest kids night in the 50-year history of Mercer
Raceway Park. The third annual Jr. Fan Night has grown each year and will be
a huge night for all the youngsters. Chuckie, Angelica, and Tommie, the
famous Nickelodeon "Rugrats", will be making a special appearance at the
track. These characters are sweeping the nation in popularity. The Aut Mori
Grotto Clowns will also be on hand. Everyone will have the opportunity to
meet the Sportsman Modified drivers and obtain autographs and pictures
during McElwain Family of Dealerships "Meet Your Heroes" session. Kids 12
and under can participate in bike races on the track. All kids 12 and under
will receive free treat bags when they enter the gates.

American Patroit Night on June 30 is an all-around family night. Everyone
will enjoy the spectacular fireworks display sponsored by Walt's of Mercer
Plaza and Pizza Joe's. All veterans of war will be admitted free with ID
this night. Last year, nearly 200 veterans enjoyed the festivities as guests
of Mercer Raceway Park.

The best part about these family promotions is the price. Mom, dad, and up
to four kids (ages 6-15) can attend the night's activities for just $23!
Children five and under are free.
