MID-ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES AT HAGERSTOWN FOR BONEBRAKE MEMORIAL

HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) will be
its second appearance of the season at the Hagerstown Speedway for the
Annual Richard "Boney" Bonebrake Memorial. Sponsored by the Industrial
Service Inc.(ITSI), the 40-lap event will pay $7,000 to the winner.
the late models will be spring championships for the Hoosier Tires late
sportsman, Ernie's Salvage Yard pure stocks and the 4-cyl pure stocks.
time is 7 P.M. with gates opening at 5 P.M.
Also on the program will be "Speedo, the Speedway Clown" and his car
"Rosie". ITSI, who sponsors the late model division, will be giving away
tee-shirts to the fans Saturday night.
The special late model program is held each year to honor Richard
Bonebrake, a man who played a vital part in the success of stock car
in the tri-state area for nearly 50 years. Bonebrake started out as a
in the mid-fifties and later became a successful car owner. Bonebrake is
member of the Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown's Hall of Fame.
Bonebrake's son, Denny Bonebrake, drove his car to the first of six
track championships at Hagerstown in his rookie season in 1969. The
Bonebrake remained car owner of his son's car until the early 90's.
drove his father's car to 79 feature wins and six track championships at
Hagerstown. Some of the drivers who drove for Richard Bonebrake included
Warrenfeltz, Hagerstown's track champion in 1965 & 67, Bucky Rees,
Bowers, track champion in 1966,Clem LeMaster, Jimmy Finley, Mert Stine
Past winners of the Bonebrake Memorial include Charlie Schaffer,
Stuhler, Todd Andrews and two-time winner Jeremy Miller.
