WOODSTOCK, GA - The United Dirt Track Racing Association Pro DirtCar Series
will begin its three-event Great Plains Tour this Tuesday night with a
50-lap $10,000-to-win main event at the -mile West Liberty Raceway in West
Liberty, IA.

The UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series competitors will then travel west for the
other two events of the Great Plains Tour.

The Dakota State Fairgrounds Speedway in Huron, SD will host a two-day show
on May 18-19 highlighted by a 100-lap $20,000-to-win main event. The UDTRA
Great Plains Tour finale will be a 50-lap $10,000-to-win main event on May
22 at Eagle Raceway in Lincoln, NE.

For several UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series competitors, West Liberty Raceway will
be a welcome site.

The defending and four-time UDTRA Champion Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg,
TN has had a hot and cold 2001 UDTRA season after the first 14 events.
Bloomquist has one win, two top fives, one pole and five top tens. Despite
several problems that have kept him out of contention for top ten finishes,
Bloomquist is fourth in the UDTRA points chase, 403 points out of first

Bloomquist is the defending UDTRA race winner at West Liberty Raceway, as
last year's victory helped push him by Steve Francis of Ashland, KY to win
his fourth UDTRA title. Bloomquist had a clean sweep last year on the Iowa
half-mile, being the fast qualifier, a heat race winner, and the main event

Despite the sweep, Bloomquist did not lead all of the laps in the main
event. Hometown driver Steve Boley of West Liberty, IA passed Bloomquist
for the lead on lap 3, but cut down a tire on lap 16 to take him out of
contention for the win.

Since then, Boley has hit the road and joined the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series
tour during the early events of the 2001 season. In 10 UDTRA starts this
season, Boley has one top five finish and pole award to his credit. At
home, Boley has been on a hot streak during the last couple of weeks, a
streak he hopes to carry on to his home track for UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series

Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA had a strong second place finish in the
2000 West Liberty Raceway UDTRA event. Birky also has 10 UDTRA starts this
season with one top ten finish. Birkhofer has also had some success close
to home this season.

Francis showed strength last year in the West Liberty UDTRA event. Despite
Bloomquist winning the race, Francis stayed in the championship hunt last
year with a charge from the 15th starting spot to a third place finish.

This season, Francis comes to West Liberty second in the UDTRA point's
chase, 106 points behind point leader Rick Eckert of York, PA, and still
looking for his first win of the season, despite 13 top ten finishes in
first 14 events. Eckert finished ninth last year at West Liberty, and this
season has one win with 10 top five finishes in 14 events.

The 1997 UDTRA Champion Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR is third in points
with one win and seven top ten finishes. Moyer was born and raised in the
Hawkeye State, and will be looking to make up some of the 349 points he
behind Eckert.

Other top UDTRA top drivers expected at West Liberty include Dan Schlieper
of Pewaukee, WI, Jimmy Mars of Elk Mound, WI, Wendell Wallace of Batesville,
AR, 1999 UDTRA Champion Dale McDowell of Rossville, GA, Ray Cook of
Brasstown, NC, 1996 UDTRA Champion Freddy Smith of Knoxville, TN, and UDTRA
Rookie of the Year point leader Joe Izzo of LaSalle, IL.

The UDTRA regulars will get some tough competition from local favorites
including the 2000 NASCAR Short Track Champion Gary Webb of Bluegrass, IA,
Darren Miller of Chadwick IL, Denny Eckrich of Coralville, IA, Ray Guss
of Milan, IL, Jeff Aikey of Cedar Falls, IA, and Dave Eckrich of Coralville,

The West Liberty schedule of events on Tuesday has the pit gate opening
12 noon, the grandstand gate opens at 4 p.m., and hot laps are scheduled
6 p.m. to be followed by UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series Qualifications, Heat
Races, Consolation Races, and the 50-lap $10,000-to-win main event.
