(Crooksville, Ohio) -- The payout for the 2001 Jim Dunn Memorial at Midway Speedway has been set and it's sure to attract to several top name drivers!

The Jim Dunn Memorial will be held on Sunday, May 27th at the Midway Speedway near Crooksville, Ohio and the winner this year will take home $5000. 2nd place will receive $3000, 3rd place $2500, 4th place $2000, and 5th place $1500. It is $1200 for 6th, $1000 for 7th, $800 for 8th, $700 for 9th, $600 for 10th, and $500 to start. All cars not transferring to the feature will receive $100. The total purse for this race exceeds $23,000!!!

"I wanted a payout where everyone would benefit; where everyone would be able to get a decent amount of money," track promoter Jesse Wardell said. "I used to race and I've been in several races where the first place guy gets all the money and everyone else gets practically nothing. I'm trying to send out a message that, here at Midway, we care about all the drivers, and we want everyone to take a little bit of money home, not just one person."

If the phenomenal payout isn't enough to attract the fans and drivers, then the date is sure to bring the cars and people in. The Friday and Saturday before the Jim Dunn Memorial, the Renegade STARS Racing Series is at Raceway 7 in Conneaut, Ohio and Muskingum County Speedway in Dresden, Ohio. "I felt like Sunday, May 27th was a good date with the STARS being at Muskingum (County) the night before. Plus, you've got a lot of guys who have to pass right through (Zanesville) on their way home from the Show-Me 100," Wardell stated. "Also, the next day is Memorial Day, so people don't have to worry about getting up early the next morning for work."

In an effort to help promote the event, Wardell and Announcer/PR Director Dustin Jarrett will appear on the Dirt-Track Racing Round-Up radio program on 107.3/WYBZ on Sunday evening, May 20th.

There is an entry fee for the 2001 Jim Dunn Memorial. The entry fee is $50 if it is received before May 15, $100 if it is received after May 15th.

In addition to the Jim Dunn Memorial for the Late Models, the Coca-Cola Street Stocks will be on hand racing for $1000 to win.

Gates will open at Noon for the Sunday, May 27th extravaganza with Hot Laps scheduled to begin at 5pm and Time Trials for the Late Models at 6pm.
