MID-WEEK TEST 'N' TUNE AT PPMS HAS NEW TWIST
IMPERIAL, PA....The first test and tune open practice session for all
interested racing divisions is scheduled for Wednesday, May 16 at
Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.
James "Red" Miley, President of Miley Motorsports explained, "We get many
requests from teams for additional track practice time, as well as requests
from other individuals, to have an opportunity to drive a race car in a
non-competitive situation. In an effort to satisfy these requests, we will
open the pit gates at 5pm with practice running from 6pm till dusk. Each
division will have ample time to practice throughout the evening." Miley
went on to say, "Additionally, we will set aside a maximum of thirty minutes
track time for interested teams to allow someone else to drive their car.
This is a great opportunity for someone like a team member, sponsor, mother,
wife, sister, etc. to experience the thrill of taking a lap or two around
Dirt's Monster Half Mile." Helmet and seat belt use will be required for
anyone participating, and all necessary waivers must be signed.
In an attempt to come up with a cost effective means to provide this to
competitors, we have implemented the following costs for our first scheduled
open practice session. Pit fees will be $12, and there will be no charge for
admission to the grandstands. Race car fees will be as follows: Late
Models, Sprints and V-8 Modifieds will be charged $75. Costs for Steel Block
or Limited Late Models will be $50, E-Mods , Street Stocks and Pure Stocks
will be charged $25, and Amateur Stocks, Chargers and Go-Karts will not be
charged any fee.
If our initial effort proves to be successful, and continued interest is
evident, three additional Wednesday open practice dates are tentatively
scheduled for June 13, July 11, and August 15. For more information, you can
call the business office at 724-853-RACE (7223), or visit our web site at www.ppms.com.
