UDTRA AND BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY PREPARE FOR THE 2ND ANNUAL BATTLE OF
BRISTOL WITH A NEW SPONSOR AND A UDTRA TECHNICAL BULLETIN
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
WOODSTOCK, GA - United Dirt Track Racing Association and Bristol Motor
Speedway officials are preparing for the 2nd Annual Battle of Bristol for
the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series by announcing a new sponsor and issuing a
technical bulletin to UDTRA competitors.
Free Service Tire and Auto Centers and Advance Auto Parts join forces to
sponsor the United Dirt Track Racing Association's Pro DirtCar weekend at
Bristol Motor Speedway, officials announced today.
The Battle of Bristol, presented by Free Service Tire and Auto Centers and
Advance Auto Parts, will run at Bristol Motor Speedway May 30-June 2 after
Speedway officials bury the concrete oval under 1,400 truckloads of red
"This four-night UDTRA dirt late model weekend will be so big, one sponsor
was not enough," said Lewis Wexler, Jr., vice president, Free Service Tire
and Auto Centers. "Both of our retail chains will offer unique promotions
to support Wednesday's qualifying night and the Thursday-through-Saturday
nights of racing action offering a $200,000 purse to the competitors."
Said Wendy Delano, Marketing Director for Advance Auto Parts, "Many of our
customers are race fans and either enjoy competing as drivers and crew
members, or simply as some of the most faithful spectators in America.

Johnson City-based Free Service Tire and Auto Centers owns and operates
retail stores servicing East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, and two truck
tire centers in Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and
Advance Auto Parts is the second largest automotive aftermarket retailer
the United States, with approximately 1,700 stores in 37 states and more
than 24,000 employees nationwide.
UDTRA TECHNICAL BULLETIN:
All competitors competing during the Battle of Bristol by FREE SERVICE
and ADVANCE AUTO PARTS must comply with the following manufacturer
recommendations to the UDTRA. The following technical bulletin is to protect
the fans, competitors and future events at Bristol Motor Speedway.
WELD WHEELS and the UDTRA will require that all competitors using WELD
WHEELS must use wheels with a minimum of .190 thickness at the bead seat
.380 thickness at the center of the wheel. Both right side tires must have
bead lock wheels during the Battle of Bristol event.
REAL WHEELS and the UDTRA will require that all competitors using REAL
WHEELS must use a R110, R112 or R10 series wheels. These wheels measure
less than .380 thickness through the center of the wheel. Both right side
tires must have bead lock wheels during the Battle of Bristol.
WINTERS PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS and the UDTRA will prohibit all competitors
from using ULTRA -LITE hubs. All hubs must have the heavy-duty type bolt
flanges. The thickness must remain the same from the bottom of the flange
to the top of the flange.
All wheel and hub manufacturer must conform to this Technical Bulletin for
the Bristol event. All wheels must measure a minimum of .380 thickness
the center of the wheel.
Any competitor in violation of this Technical Bulletin may be disqualified
from the event and may forfeit all prize winnings.
