Season's Second Race At
Central Washington State Fair Raceway

After a successful season opener at Central Washington State Fair Raceway in
Yakima, WA on April 6th, racers and crews are keyed up for a return, this
Friday the 20th, to the fast paced action of two weeks ago. When the action
was over for the first of six Friday night "Fun In The Sun" events drivers in
all three classes, Sprints, Hobby Stocks & Modifieds, were highly pleased with
the track, the action, and the knowledge there was more to come. A total of 36
cars turned out for the opener, with 22 of them the "Fire Breathing, Thunder
and Lightning 360 Sprint Cars".
With her opening race win in the books, sprint car driver Shawna Wilskey is
primed for a repeat win while the rest of the field is saying "Nope, my turn".
This also holds true for the other classes as Rick Milbourn in the Hobby
Stocks and Craig Moore in the Modifieds can expect to see the competition
increase. Local drivers, used to an asphalt track, had a good showing in their
inaugural dirt track outing and will soon be a threat for the win. Car counts
are expected to increase in all classes this Friday, as new memberships
continue to come in and more teams have finished their cars and are ready to
Sprint Car drivers expected to have their eyes on a win this Friday will
include Randy Ridge, Shawna Wilskey, Chad Hillier, Rick Fauver, Barry
Martinez, Jay Cole, Jayme Barnes, John Tharp and Glenn Borden, Jr.
Craig Moore and Rick Milbourn will be looking for a second win also, but you
can bet they are going to have to work to get it, if they do repeat.
Milbourn will undoubtedly have a battle on his hands from Yakima's Chris
Jeffery who crashed out with Shelton, WA's Chris Asche while racing for the
lead in the in the opener's Hobby Stock trophy dash.
Points leaders going into the upcoming race are: Sprints; Shawna Wilskey -
103 pts, Richie Peterson - 97, Randy Ridge - 91. Modifieds; Craig Moore - 103,
Dan Wolfard - 91, Kevin ****bower - 96. Hobby Stocks; Rick Milbourn - 80, Wes
Valentine - 73, Chris Asche - 72.
Friday night's racing action is scheduled to get underway by 8pm. The Pit
